I’m almost 16 weeks and I’m absolutely bored. I found a cruise that leaves from a port an hour away from me and it’s only for 4 days. Most of the days are on the water and just one day somewhere in Canada. I’ll be 20-21 weeks during the cruise. Should I be worried? Has anybody gone on a cruise and have had a problem?
Haven’t talked to my doctor yet but I’m guessing he’d give me a green light considering nothing out of the ordinary is really going on with my pregnancy other than having conceived via IVF. Any input would be appreciated.

I don't see any issues with going on a cruise. There is not much exciting going on around 20/21 weeks. As long as you know you don't get sea sick and you'll enjoy it ;)

@EllendeGraaf,
thanks! I do get sea sick in the beginning but it eventually goes away after the first day or so.

My only concern with a cruise is Covid. I’m double vaxxed (not boosted yet) and managed to get Covid after leaving bed rest for 2h, so I’m extra paranoid though. Otherwise, a cruise would be lovely! The food, the pool, the rest and relaxation. Sounds amazing!

@mama-may-i,
yeah that’s the only thing that’s on my mind too. They’re requiring proof of vaccination which is good. But cruises are notorious for quick spread of any kind of norovirus.

UPDATE: I decided to book the cruise at 20-21 weeks. Anybody else have gone cruising while pregnant? Any bad experiences?

@rlfx3,
thanks! I wear mask everywhere now and I plan on wearing one the entire time on the cruise.

I will be 27 weeks when we go on a cruise to Alaska. Not worried at all.

@MomofOneFeb2020,
how long is your cruise and do you have to fly to your departure port?

@MomofOneFeb2020,
Who are you cruising with that let's you go that late? When I was searching cruises I couldn't find anything later than 24 weeks.

@MomofOneFeb2020,
I just got off a cruise with Royal Carribean, and I had to attest I wasn’t more than 23 weeks pregnant (they will not allow those more than 23 weeks pregnant to board). Definitely check your cruise line’s policies before you go and have fun!

I’ve done two cruises while pregnant. 14 weeks and again 18 week.
Just make sure you check the cruise line policy because most cruise lines won’t let you travel after 23-24 weeks pregnant.

@sekze152,
yeah Royal Caribbean’s policy is 23 weeks. Which is why I’m kind of nervous because 21 weeks isn’t that far from 23 weeks. Do they know something I don’t???

@first-time-mom09,
I’d guess it’s because 24 weeks is viability and there’s literally nothing they could do for your baby out in the middle of the ocean if you went into labor then.

I just did a cruise the last week of April at 17-18 weeks. I didn't have any problems. you can take meds for motion sickness if you need them. I bought them ahead of time and took one before boarding the ship. fortunately I didn't need them after that. I had a great cruise and enjoyed it.

@rlsjupiter,
glad you had fun! I usually only need one motion sickness pill at the beginning of the trip too before becoming pregnant. The worst is when the ship is just docked and not moving.

I don’t see any problem with going that early! Other than the fact that I know myself and I’d be bored to tears lol the two things I like doing most on cruises is drinking by the pool/on the beach and the casinos. Both of which I couldn’t do

@kap88,
Haha same about the casinos. I don’t even think we’ve ever just sat down by the pool, we were always either eating or at shows or at the casino

Just came back from a 4 day cruise last week and had a great time! They require proof of vaccination and Covid tests. Plus they tested my son before boarding who is unvaccinated because he’s 2. Along with other unvaccinated young children. I honestly felt great and my nausea subsided. Great relaxing vacation without to much exhaustion

I went on a cruise at 22 weeks with one of my babies. It was a great vacation. As long as you don’t have issues and your doc approves it, I say go for it! If I was high risk or had any complications I may skip a cruise because they are not equipped to handle pregnancy problems, but other than that, go and enjoy!

@amiebb,
thanks for sharing your experience. I have a doctors appointment on Tuesday so I should be able to discuss with my doctor before paying full price.

Cruising while pregnant can be an exciting and unforgettable experience. Pregnant women should always consult their doctor before embarking on any boat cruise. It's important to ensure that the pregnant woman is healthy enough to take such a trip. To make the most of the experience, the boat should be equipped with comfortable seating and plenty of space for the mother-to-be to rest. It's also important to provide the pregnant woman with nutritious snacks and plenty of fluids to keep her hydrated. I personally would go on the first months of pregnancy. If I were more than 5 months pregnant I would stay at home, relax and play online casino with depo 50 bonus 20.
