1) Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People are never satisfied with what they have; they always want something more or something different. Use specific reasons to support your answer.
A :
I agree that people always want something more or something different for the following reasons:
Firstly, people always want to constantly achieve something.
Achievement provides motivation to those who are trying to improve themselves.
Likewise, I always admit my weaknesses, and improve myself by learning from them. I also wish to study foreign languages and apply for certification.
Secondly, people get bored with the same daily routines or what they already have.
People have a tendency to take what they have for granted, and eventually become interested in things that are new and different.
I think this need for adventure is a characteristic unique to humans.
*My own thoughts: I think this is a great topic to discuss! We as humans are generally always looking for new challenges to reach “the next level.” Due to the innate sense of competition combined with highly advanced cognitive function (compared to other mammals), this has us always wanting more that what we have; bigger, better things. Unfortunately, the downside is that this competitive drive results in us not fully appreciating what is right in front of us, as you mentioned. Keep up the great work! (:
