That's exactly how I would do it. A tip for the most efficient process in Photo Mechanic is to "Tag" the keepers, then delete the untagged ones. Choosing and picking images to cull/delete is just a extra step you can avoid if you just Tag the keepers. One step

Thanks for the advice, that’s more or less what I was thinking. Deleting the photos one by one seems like a lot of extra work!!

Correct! Don't even bother picking the one you want to delete. Only pick/tag the keeper and delete the rest
