Megumin and Yunyun are members of the Crimson Magic Clan, a village inhabited by highly intelligent crimson demons with exceptional magical abilities. However, top performers in their classes have different aspirations for their magical skills.
Yunyun is learning advanced magic, while Megumin has chosen the path of explosion magic. Despite being told of its limited usefulness, Megumin thinks the key to becoming great and a voluptuous wizard lies in explosion magic and refuses to listen to anyone and change her chosen path.
In the Crimson Demon’s Village, there is a lesson that to become a full-fledged person, one must learn advanced magic, and that explosion magic is considered a joke. However, Megumin remains steadfast in pursuing this magic alone, driven by a childhood memory of witnessing someone wield the strongest magic.
This is a story of a girl who yearns to become the strongest wizard and is willing to face the challenges and criticisms that come with pursuing a path that is not considered conventional or practical. KonoSuba – An Explosion on This Wonderful World! Episode 1 Recap
The first episode of the anime, titled The Crimson-Eyed Wizards, shows how an Arch Wizard inspired Megumintery in explosion magic. She joined the Red Prison and made some new friends there: Yunyun and Arue. Despite being warned by her teacher that explosion magic was a joke with limited use, Megumin was set to learn it.
During a combat training class, Megumin grew closer to Yunyun and reaffirmed her goal of becoming a mage with mastery in explosion magic. In the episode, a new client appeared who appeared to have some relationship with the Arch Wizard.
