St Mary's Church in Nantwich is situated just north of the indoor market, on the corner of Market Street and Churchside. The church holds historical significance and has a pleasant staff who provide informative details about its history. It is located in a charming town square where a framers' market takes place on the last Saturday of each month.

Amazing church in the centre of town, played a part in the English civil war, Nantwich is easily accessible by rail on the transport for Wales line from Shrewsbury. A must visit if in the area.

There aren't words that suffice the beauty and history of such a wonderful church. One window in particular captured my attention & my heart, for it was full of everything important to me : animals, nature but in stunning colours of stained glass. Two very friendly & amusing gentlemen on duty giving information of the donors of windows etc. A superb altar caught in the spring sunlight just glowed, simply stunning. On my list of places to revisit

Jill McKenzie — Google review

Beautiful church with amazing stain glass windows that is at the heart of a pretty town. So welcoming on a cold night waiting for Christmas lights to switch on. And today so welcoming to everyone who wanted to attend a kids nativity with real life donkeys, active participation from the young congregation, and some great carols. Thank you so much for reminding me what Christmas is all about by role modelling the Christmas spirit. 🎄

J BM — Google review

Nice staff told us history of the church. Glad we visited.

Came here to celebrate a family friends birthday and couldn’t fault the place, the food and service was amazing. It was like being in Greece itself with the little tables and chairs surrounded by Greek decor. We took advice from the lovely and professional staff on what to order and they recommended 6/7 Meze dishes and two mains which was more than enough for four people to share.Thank you for a fantastic meal and a lovely evening, I can’t wait to come back 👌 YAMAS!!!

Just as nice inside as Majestic outside, all the usual suspects becoming a lovely church but wait till you see those embroidered kneelers

beautiful church right in the centre of the town! staff there are always very friendly and can tell you about the history.

What a fabulous church! So much history and amazing architecture. Well worth a visit. Don’t miss the opportunity to look inside.

Tamasine Smith — Google review

Beautiful, very well preserved church. A significant piece of history located in Nantwich town centre. Entrance is free and there is a very helpful guide inside, who will tell you some things about the church and answer all your questions. Do check the opening hours before visiting though, in order to avoid disappointment.

George Chatzigeorgiou — Google review

Beautiful church, very welcoming, lovely old couple explained the whole history of the church to me and my parents when we visited after the battle of Nantwich. would recommend a see if you're in for the day

Thomas Dadd — Google review

Lovely church with a lot of history connected to it. A volunteer spent lots of time with us taking us through history and interesting facts. Fantastic 😊

S J — Google review

An amazing church in the centre on Nantwich. The stained glass windows cast glorious colours into the church especially on a sunny day. The staff are so friendly and will show the best places to view the miseries corde and the fine details of the stained glass. Well worth a visit. Easy parking can be found at the M&S Food Hall car park.

Museum

Historical landmark

A nuclear bunker and defence complex offering tours and 20th-century military history exhibitions.

This place is a 'must see', especially for those of us who lived through the whole 'Protect and Survive' era. It's absolutely crammed with artefacts relating to the Cold War, and includes such things as the original telephone that was reserved for calling HM the Queen in the event of a nuclear attack to obtain consent to enact emergency powers. They're displaying the film 'The War Game', which was banned by the BBC. It made 'Threads' look like children's television. I felt physically sick after watching it and it's hard to believe that anybody ever conceived of creating these weapons of horror.I felt genuinely chilled by my experience of visiting here, but at the same time I definitely want to return. It's a truly important place and it's vital we never lose sight of the devastation that nuclear weapons cause.

Jane B — Google review

This place is awesome! If you are considering visiting, I would definitely recommend. The staff here are super friendly and informative, especially Goulash the cat! We have learnt lots on our trip today about nuclear warfare and military operations, and the self guided tour was very easy to follow and well laid out. It is extremely cold so I would definitely recommend putting on a few more layers. Despite the temperature the place does have a warm, homely feel as soon as you enter, as the staff are so lovely and friendly. The canteen offers lots of options for food and drinks and I definitely recommend the homemade cakes!

Rachel S — Google review

Very good place to visit for a few hours and local.Pity some parts were not accessible, some due to covid also but really enjoyed our visit. The staff member was very welcoming and the cat is an added bonus, very friendly.

Boof Edge — Google review

LOVED IT!! There is so much to see and take in here! The theming of the cafe as you enter is fab, and the story told through the rooms is both poignant and interesting. We spent a good two hours taking it all in, but certainly could've spent longer! The staff were super friendly, and the little gift shop is reasonably priced. I almost wish we could've spent a whole day here!

Flora S — Google review

Dog friendly cold war era bunker with cafe on site. Interesting venue, but a lot of reading, with little exhibit interaction. A self led tour takes around 60-90 mins. Entrance fee is an annual pass, so the c.£15 price is worth it in that respect. Easy to find, but via some narrow country lanes. Worth a visit on a rainy day.

Brian Swann — Google review

Very interesting and engaging museum, well worth travelling to and entrance admission. Activity book for children kept 5 year old engaged even if some of the material is unsuitable. Will return in the future.

Dan Earl — Google review

Surprisingly good day out, particularly if you were around in the cold war era. Lots of detail about the threat of nuclear war and the preparations we took as a country to survive it. If you were born or around in the 70's you will be very familiar with the technology! Trying to explain to my son what a switchboard is and that yes we used to have 5 1/4" flopppy disc drives was interesting!Probably about 1.5 - 2hrs worth of stuff to look around. Some nice pubs in the area too so definitely a worthwhile trip.

Kev Sutton — Google review

Really great place for kids and adults. It has been curated very well. Lots of content and items, far more than I was expecting. Prepare yourself to spend 1.5hrs to go through all the rooms. The cold war years is told really cleverly through out the different rooms of the bunker. It has also got a little shop with some very quirky souvenirs.

maria gonzalez — Google review

What an amazing place. Forget the York Bunker. Thats just a tiddler compared with this place. Its huge! I absolutely loved how they got alot of the old machines to light up again with the sounds of stuff beeping or buzzing away. Lots of stuff for kids to twiddle and play with too. We spent over hours on a self guided tour covering 29 or so different rooms on two levels. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would deffo visit again in future.

Martin Goodman — Google review

This is a really interesting place, but quite harrowing at times (to be expected given the subject). There are lots of great exhibits ... not just the bombs but also all of the civil defence and emergency response equipment, even a radio studio, press briefing room, sleeping quarters and displays of Soviet military uniform and military memorabilia. (including a mock up ICBM launch room). It is suitable for kids of a certain age, and plenty of them were enjoying it. Prepare to be surprised and fascinated ! A unique insight into the thinking of the time and the detailed plans in place to try and recover society in some way after the unthinkable. Takes a good 2 hours to explore ... recommended

Mike Simms — Google review

What a fascinating day out! My 10 year old daughter is really interested in history. We really enjoyed it. We didn't let her watch the film in the cinema room as it was too graphic but loved learning about everything

Historical landmark

Hawkstone Park is a stunning tourist attraction located in the heart of the beautiful Shropshire countryside. With two golf courses, a tearoom and services, Hawkstone Park Follies is perfect for visitors looking to relax and enjoy the surrounds.

A fantastic place for young and old to enjoy! Found this place whilst searching for something for the family to do and was not disappointed. If anything I was sad that I had never been before! The park is vast with all sorts of trails to do and sights to see. Upon arrival you are given a map of everything to see and you have the choice of choosing which path you want to take and how long the total time will be. There are wonderful sites from various towers, caves, underground caverns, bridges and the list goes on. There is a shop offering drinks and ice creams at the end of the trail which is a great treat for the kids after the hard work. Lovely views once you reach the top! Friendly staff and people on the way. A great day out for the family. We spent 3-4 hours here and had plenty to do.

Dave Savage — Google review

Fantastic day out. Plenty of parking and well worth the admission price. Being able to take dogs is a welcome change from most places like this that you can visit.Friendly staff in the main reception / shop who are more than happy to take the time to explain the activities to you on arrival.Walks are excellent and the whole area is amazing. Well laid out paths and signs will take you on the route you choose. So nice to be able to do things like climb the tower when most would have closed this off to the public.100% would recommend it to families / couples / groups or anyone wanting a walk around some nice grounds.

Wayne — Google review

We had a lovely afternoon with a guided tour. 100% worth booking, as it’s £50 for up to six people and you get a landrover journey up through the hardest parts of the trail. The follies themselves are magnificent and mysterious in their own right. The walk is worth it just for the views at the top. It’s muddy and wet and sloppy in places so not an easy route by any means but a great place to introduce kids to hiking as there’s so many places to encounter and explore on the route.

The Amazing Adventures of Me — Google review

Amazing walk, lots to do for young children from the play area to activities and stuff to look out for.We spent around 3 hours completing the full route including the strenuous lower path which was good fun.The dog loved all the caves, he led most the way, apart from over the rope bridge where he let us walk first.Would recommend it to anyone who loves adventure.

Laura Henn — Google review

We've been here a lot, it's a stunning location with some history behind it.There's a few walks through the stunning landscape. You'll be walking through rhododendron jungles, amongst huge fir trees and along gorgeous sandstone cliffs. There are caves, gulley's and bridges.Small children will cope but there are some steeper climbs with steps to get up.There a cafe at the start and halfway through.Dog friendly, I think they need to be on leads.

Tom Elner — Google review

The first thing that we encountered on our trip here was very friendly and informative staff. We visited the whole area and completed all the routes in approximately 3 hours, including going up the 150 steps to the top of the Monument, well worth it!A lot of effort must go into maintaining the park as we were the first ones there on opening and all of the paths had been cleared.Hawkstone Follies has to be one of the best places to visit in Shropshire. There is so much to see along the trails. There are lots of steps and rugged steep parts but this makes it more fun. There are also areas suitable for children.Suitable footwear is advised !After our walk we had a coffee and a delicious slice of fresh cake at The glass house tearoom. Very reasonably priced. This trip is worth every penny and we will be returning

G.M_ Unplugged — Google review

Second time visit with 2 teenagers in tow (16 & 14) and they loved it too. They are happy walkers anyway but the trails, caves etc gave them opportunity to revert to their younger selves and it was lovely to see them acting a bit daft and exploring again. When you consider the amount of paths etc to maintain and the amount of time you can spend there, the price (online cheaper) is reasonable. Plenty of picnicing benches available throughout the estate so take your lunch and enjoy the views. Great that it's dog friendly too. Great family day out and will be back 😍

Emma Mellor — Google review

What an adventure we had here! 3 hours walk with lots of steps and climbing, beautiful scenery, dark caves and fun games for the kids. (The Monument has 150 steps up- we counted them! 😅) Entrance fee is a bit pricey, but the whole park is kept clean and in good condition. Definitely will return, thank you 😊

Borb?la Glover — Google review

Beautiful place to explore, adventure around every corner or rather up and down every step. Perfect place for a few hours of exploring caves, monuments, trees etc. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Paul Forster — Google review

Fantastic place to visit... wet and windy day but didn't spoil the trip ... got everything you'd want to see and do on a walk .. tunnels, caves, towers ravines and bridges to name a few .. Will definitely visit again in the summer...

Gungho Gungho — Google review

Had a lovely walk although the rhododendron Forrest was really muddy. Some great views and would definitely return

mike wilkins — Google review

It's a really magical and enchanting trail through carefully managed woodland. Every twist and turn surprises and delights. There are nooks and crannies with views, which are great for resting with a cake and a tea from our picnic bag, a big tower to climb up with amazing views, spooky paths underneath twisted ancient rhododendrons, unexpected tunnels, a massive cavern with cliff top view points, an exciting bridge across a magical gulley and an interesting and demanding walk along a sandstone ridge. We spent 4.5 hrs there and we were knackered by the end of it. But very happy. Such a great day out and excellent value. Walking boots are a good idea and there are plenty of places for picnics and stopping for a tea from our flasks. Bring plenty of water and be aware that the cafe closes before the park. We got back to the cafe at 4:30pm but it was closed, so it probably closed at 4pm. We were ready for tea and cake so we went to the Bear Inn in the local village which was very pleasant and did hot drinks. You must visit if you haven't been before.

Tom Grimmett — Google review

Absolutely amazing place! The full 2-3 hour trail requires a fair level of fitness or a slow pace as there are a lot of steps and some steep inclines. Definitely takes longer than 2-3 hours if you have kids or want to stop for photos as often as we did! Also, a phone torch for some of the passages won't be strong enough - would recommend a proper torch or head torch. Had a great day out and will definitely return!

A Gunnell — Google review

What a lovely place to visit. Certainly tested out fitness as a family but the area was just beautiful. Lots of walking so make sure you wear appropriate footwear. Different roots you can take, we mainly followed the enchanted trail (although we did detour a bit at times). The children could explore the area, search for fairies, trolls and dragons and also build dens. The kids loved the caves, make sure you bring a torch as they are pitch black but the kids found this very exciting!! We went up to the top of the monument, the view was amazing!! The stairs are a little steep and felt a bit dizzy going round and round to get to the top but was worth it! Lovely little cafe and toilets there and the man who served us on admission was very friendly and helpful! Dog friendly also. Free parking. Plenty of picnic areas throughout also. A lovely hidden gem!!

S Evans (Sevs) — Google review

This is a must visit. We absolutely loved it. You do need some sort of fitness level. Some of it it steep when you climb some steps and the goes going down. There is also narrow gorges and dark tunnels and caves to explore.

Shropshire Falconry Ltd offers a fantastic tourist attraction where visitors can experience the thrill of a morning Hawk walk. The knowledgeable and passionate staff, particularly Lisa, provide valuable insights about the birds. It is evident that working with these awe-inspiring creatures is more than just a job for them; it's a true passion. The adventure begins with Ivan, a Harris Hawk who enjoys leisurely following along instead of hunting for prey.

FANTASTIC! Just came back from our morning Hawk walk which was really great.Lisa is so knowledgeable and passionate about the birds. It certainly doesn't seem like it's a job for her, more like you couldn't stop her flying these awesome creatures if you tried!Ivan (Harris Hawk) started off the adventure, but also fancied a chilled out day following along rather than swooping for prey. However then out came Carl! He never took his hawk eyes off us and flew beautifully with us landing on our gloves whenever a bit of food was offered up. Fabulous bird and an all round memorable experience.I would recommend this experience to anyone. Thanks Lisa, Ivan, Carl and Ben for a wonderful morning.Well definitely be back to see and hold more of the birds at Shropshire Falconry soon.

RICHARD TATE — Google review

I had the most unforgettable experience at Shropshire Falconry and would not hesitate to recommend booking in with them. Both Steve and Lisa were friendly, knowledgeable and you could see how strong their bonds were with the birds. Little did I know they had conspired with my (now) fiance to deliver the perfect marriage proposal with the ring flown to me by Mojo whilst he got down on one knee. I am so grateful to them for making such a special moment all the more special and they were such wonderful people I am so glad they were a part of it. I am sure this was the first visit of many! I met 7 different birds up close and personal and it truly was incredible. As someone who has always loved owls to be able to meet so many one on one was such a unique experience. Cannot wait to go back.

Robyn Gee — Google review

Three generations of my family, myself, my Mum and my daughter had a wonderful time at the owl experience yesterday. We flew and held several owls whilst being entertained and educated by Lisa and Steve. They are very knowledgeable and clearly love the birds and Steve had us laughing too with his one liners! Thoroughly enjoyed our time there. It's in the middle of nowhere but well worth the drive out. We loved it! Thank you Lisa, Steve and your wonderful owls x

Sally Rowberry — Google review

I absolutely love the owl experience, and will visit again, the owners were so lovely and definitely contributed to make the whole experience unique and very enjoyable. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Fantastic & great value owl and hawk experience last weekend. We met owls and flew hawks, it was SO much fun. Steve and Lisa are incredibly knowledgeable and treat the birds so well. Can't recommend enough!

Holly Nelson — Google review

Experienced the Hawk Walk for the first time today - it really was an amazing experience (even in the cold!) and Lisa (professional falconer) was great, very knowledgeable, experienced and passionate. We learned a lot about the birds and it was great to be able to see them up close.Having the hawks follow us along as we walked through the forest, and watching them fly towards us and land on our hands when there was a piece of food, was so worth it ❤️ Not something you experience everyday! We met Ivan, Carl and Ben (the 3 Harris Hawks). Carl definitely stole the show, he was so lovely, very well behaved, engaged and responsive. Also very glad I briefly got to meet little baby Ben at the end, approximately 10 months old with very fluffy feathers!Definitely recommend going for a walk with the hawks!Attached a picture of Carl.

Had a wonderful afternoon doing the owl experience with Lisa & Steve who were also a hoot 😂.Beautiful well looked after owls. Great setup and fab experience definitely would do again. Have also done the Hawk Walk highly recommend too.

Phil Harris — Google review

Brilliant visit, wasn’t expecting to actually hold the owls but we did! Very informative and friendly staff, highly recommended 👍🏻

Nicki Cawley — Google review

Received a 1-1 photography experience as a gift. From the start Lisa and Steve were fantastic, asking what I wanted to get out of my time with them and if there were any particular birds I wanted to photograph. The selection of birds they have in their care is spectacular! I was fortunate enough to meet some incredible birds and handled by two talented falconers who knew how to handle each to their best potential. I came away not bothered if I had any good pictures as I'd enjoyed my time so much I was satisfied just being there. My experience was personal, relaxed and well delivered. Would highly recommend to anyone considering!

James Turpin — Google review

I had the pleasure of doing a fabulous workshop with Jonny Mo through Photosoup at Shropshire Falconry a couple of weeks ago.Shropshire Falconry is a fantastic destination for anyone interested in birds of prey, and a large part of that is thanks to the dedicated staff. Lisa and Steve are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their work. They have a deep understanding of the birds' personalities and behaviors, and they are always happy to share their knowledge with visitors. One of the best parts about Shropshire Falconry is the opportunity to get up close and personal with a variety of birds, and it's also a great place for photography enthusiasts. You can capture stunning close-up shots of these majestic creatures. The staff were so happy to provide us with tips and tricks for capturing the best possible photos of the birds. Up close we saw baby barn owls, a tawny owl, red kite, white faced owl, kestrel, burrowing owlets. Then we had a chance to try to capture some birds in flight, Indian rock owl and two hybrid birds of prey that were so fast, they really tested our skills! We even had an amazing experience holding Islay the Golden Eagle.Shropshire Falconry is not open to the public, so when you book you know who’s going to be there. Lisa and Steve were happy to answer questions about the birds.Overall, I highly recommend a visit to Shropshire Falconry to meet Lisa and Steve and their wonderful birds, whether you are interested in birds of prey or photography. Their knowledge and expertise are second to none, and they provide a truly unforgettable experience. The opportunity to capture amazing photos of these incredible creatures is just the icing on the cake.

Rebecca Thomas — Google review

My sister and I did a hawk walk with Steve and had a fantastic time. Carl and Will (the birds) were both so loveable in their own unique ways. It was fun to learn the characters of them and to hear fun facts from Steve, and most of all it was just fantastic to see and feel the birds fly so close and to have them land on the glove.

Georgia S — Google review

Amazing place, phenomenal birds of prey, and Lisa and Steve absolutely make this place magical. 100% the best birds of prey experience you'll find in Shropshire. Have done hawk walk, owl experience and photography days with them, just amazing!!

Stadium

Sights & Landmarks

Arenas & Stadiums

Anfield is home to Liverpool Football Club and they have played there since the 1892 season. Over the years, Anfield has seen many redevelopments, including a new stand that was completed in 2005. The current owners of the stadium are considering expanding it to make it even more comfortable for spectators. The stadium also features statues of two of Liverpool's most successful managers, Bob Paisley and Bill Shankly. Visitors can tour the stadium's changing rooms, trophy room and tunnel.

Went on the Stadium tour. Place is pretty amazing, first time in the new main stand and it’s spot on. The provide you with a tablet and headphones to watch as you walk round. Loads of info on the history. As always the staff are super friendly and helpful. Great day out, just be careful with parking

Tim Phillips — Google review

Amazing stadium and one of my favourites. Audio guides help give an insight into the stadium's history and it's also kind of a of free flow tour. So, you can look around and proceed your own pace, not pressured by time or being left behind. Excellent stadium for an excellent club.

i like planes — Google review

One of the best stadiums I have been to! Classic and historic landmark in England. The tour was exceptional and the the gentleman who was guiding us through the tour was amazing and extraordinary. Even if you’re not into football, you would be interested and listen to him, his name is “Michael” a nice and well informed gentleman.

Ali Almaliky — Google review

My second visit here, and I always enjoy it. The stadium is impressive, the staff and people are friendly. Getting to the stadium isn’t too difficult, as there are buses running from the city center on match days. The return bus ride can be a bit of a challenge due to the large number of people heading back, but apart from that, it’s a fantastic stadium and a wonderful experience.

Tim R — Google review

Quite a friendly place these days last time I came in 80s we were chased . Family friendly now which is great. Arkles pub was mixed fans and ground is good for viewing. One negative was bar underneath was completely far from premier or CL level.. oh and we lost 3-0 so I want a refund 😥

What an amazing experience I had in the Anfield stadium 🏟.I am a Liverpool fan and it was my first time . I had a great time and the tour was perfect and a great tour guy was very polite and joking with all of us. Well done keep it up with the great atmosphere inside Anfield Y.N.W.A 👍

I visited the Anfield stadium in Liverpool, where I had the opportunity to go through the places where the supporters and players of the big teams go when a match takes place. The locker room is very special, where you can feel the vibrant energy of the players even if they are not present is truly a beautiful experience. The care of the administration and the employees that everything is clean, dry and in order is impressive.

Went for a stadium tour with my son for his first visit to Anfield and it was great. We did the self tour with audio guide. There is staff everywhere to help and seeing my son was struggling with the ear buds one straight away got him so overhead ones instead. We were able to see the stands the dressing rooms have pics with the trophies as well as learning some history on the way. It wasn't expensive and is disability friendly.

Stuart Tulloch — Google review

My fave stadium in all of Europe. Home to the greatest team in the world. The mighty Reds. A must visit for any football fans. Beautiful. Unmatched atmosphere. Especially on magical European nights.

Adil Lakhani — Google review

I'm not into football at all, however my brother certainly is, however he's disabled and needed someone with himI went here, with fairly low expectations, however it's actually quite decent even as someone who doesn't care for football. If you have a blue badge, you can park just right outside the Anfield stadium for free, however places are somewhat limited.

Waqas Ahmed — Google review

This was a thoroughly interesting and moving experience. The 97 Memorial is especially poignant. The Tour Guides Terry and Paul were very knowledgeable and do their jobs with obvious pride and enthusiasm. The handheld video devices are an innovative addition to the tour. It is worth seeing the murals in the nearby streets. Will definitely be back ....

I went to Anfield Stadium last week for the first time, and it was amazing! The big stadium, loud fans, and the famous "This Is Anfield" sign left me really impressed. It's not just a stadium; it's like a special place for all Liverpool fans with a lot of cool history

Superb tour, my 11 yr old son really enjoyed it. The staff are wonderful, so engaging ❤️ It is an audio tour, self guided but they are there to help, if needed, at each area. Loads of interesting history and you get a real feel for the passion for the club by the fans.

Did the Stadium tour and museum, watch a great way to start the trip to Liverpool. Not massive football fans (mainly patriotic when it comes to the main events like Euros and World Cup) so to make us immersed and wanting to learn about the history and team ethos is saying something.Great tour and loved being able to be at both the top and bottom stands to feel a part of the fan experience.

Dazneyland — Google review

Did the stadium tour and couldn’t fault it. All the staff were so friendly, approachable and great sense of humour. Reasonable price for the length of the tour and what was included. The Liverpool store after was a treat! Great selection of products and also very friendly, helpful staff. Well worth a visit..

My second time coming here and I always love it. The stadium is magnificent the staff and people are friendly. Getting to the stadium isn’t very hard as there are buses running to the football ground from the city centre on match day. Getting a bus back is a struggle as there are many people heading back but besides that it’s a wonderful stadium and a wonderful experience.

We finally went to the mythical Anfield stadium… and it is beautiful! I love the surrounding neighbourhoods of the stadium, very local, with nice murals. The food and drinking areas are good with different things to eat which is nice. A bit expensive though. The logo, the memorial and the megastore are also nice to see.I would recommend to do a full tour and come to park side where you can see the players bus arriving in the stadium. The atmosphere inside is to be fair not the best one I’ve seen, or the legend that is being said about it…The main problem is the accessibility to the stadium, from the city Center there is one bus that everyone wants to hop on so there are no seats left, and we missed out on 2 in a row, we had to take a cab to go there but the traffic is full too. Then when the game is over, very difficult to go back to the city Center so we had to walk 45 min as any other transportation mean are available… was a bit tiring

Salem Alsamour — Google review

An experience of a life time, that was my first time and I already have another game booked for after Christmas.. highly recommend. The atmosphere is just something you won't experience anywhere else in the league. We are the best fans in the world.

What an amazing match day on 1st jan 2024. We took our 5 year old son to his 1st game and he loved it. We were seated in the new stand at the top it has a great view and plenty leg room.

Vikki Helliwell — Google review

Really nicely renovated. It had been over 10 years since I was there last. Took a walk around the whole stadium 🏟 amazing place for any Liverpool supporter to visit.

Sean Kelly — Google review

The iconic Anfield. Away fans are housed in the Anfield Road stand. I was in block AL9 (row 21, seat 205) and had a fairly decent view of the pitch. It was a little difficult to see across to the opposite corner though. The sun shone and the atmosphere was palpable. There was a lot of noise from the stand to my right. Probably the best atmosphere of any PL stadium I’ve visited. Lots of room in the away supporters concourse. I walked back to Lime Street station afterwards, which took about 35-40 minutes walking fast. Programmes are sold outside the stadium. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Overall, probably the most impressive PL stadium I’ve visited, with an incredible rousing atmosphere.

dan g — Google review

Quality venue for hospitality (and football) where past and present is celebrated but not unduly "in your face" other than football-side! Well-designed facilities and a club shop with huge choice, not necessarily best value, but some unique items.

Mark Turner — Google review

Brilliant football stadium. Full of character and history. Unbelievable atmosphere at the start of the game. Really impressed with how the ground has managed to keep its personality as a 4-stand football stadium as it's expanded to 61k without becoming a soulless bowl. Very busy around the ground but okay to get in. Concourses quite small bit prices very good for football; £3.50 for a Carlsburg. Also, lots of great Steet-art Murals hidden on the sides of houses off of Stanley Park Road.

Zoo

Outdoor Activities

Chester Zoo is a large and popular zoo located in the city of Chester, England. The zoo has an impressive array of animals from all around the world, including some rare and endangered species. There are also extensive gardens with beautiful waterways and landscaping, making it an amazing place to visit whether you're a animal lover or just looking for a relaxing day out.

I mean whats not to like about a zoo right?!?!? kids loved it, I loved it, was a real fun day. Saw plenty of animals, the best ones for me always has to be the elephants and giraffes. such majestic animals. Was lovely and clean and kept tidy. My only complaint with zoos is the amount of walking you have to do, but again its all part of the experience!!

Martin Clarke — Google review

Amazing for the people and the animals! Such a great day out! So many animals there and you can tell what great lives they have. Such an amazing conservation zoo - some of the purchases can be pricey but the proceeds go towards the conversation and the animals. Always developing the area to change it and make it new. The volunteers are super helpful and knowledgeable. Pretty accessible for wheelchairs and mobility scooters. If you go regularly I would 100% recommend getting a membership - it makes it such better value. If you can I would also recommend getting there earlier as it is quieter and also bringing your own lunch - takes a big expense out of your day. But make sure to get an ice cream from Junes Pavilion!

Natasha Keeling — Google review

First time at the zoo. Got there for opening time 10am, they pen you in near the elephants which becomes overcrowded very quickly. You’d think they’d just line people up at the main gates and then filter people in.So wandering around, the vast majority of the animals are still asleep at this time of morning. The suns hot, the animals have more sense than to come out and play in the hot morning sun. So the vast majority of the animals from lions, monkeys, and leopards, were all still tucked up in bed. Was a shame we didn’t get to see them. Maybe they should entice them out with some food? But there’s so much more to see and do. There’s loads of other pens that you can actually go inside. Such as the bat cave, where huge bats are flying about above your head and past your face. There’s loads of places for food and drink, loads of places to picnic which is probably the best thing to do.We spent a good 4hrs in the zoo. Definitely visit again in a few years, and highly recommended.

Chris C317 — Google review

Our second visit here we came from Suffolk to visit and it was well worth the 5 hour drive !! It is a incredible zoo ! Easy to get lost in also but I'd recommend buying a map!! The bat cave is probably the most incredible experience out of the whole day for us it was amazing ! We all had such a incredible day !

Robyn Young — Google review

Very busy zoo ,plenty of parking ,push chairs to hire ,lots of places to sit and bring your own packed lunch ,which is a must as its expensive ,1 sausage roll cost £8.00 !!! Well kept helpful staff ,face painting lots of thing for children to do .bring sensible foot wear as its very big park

Chester Zoo is an absolute delight! My visit last year was nothing short of amazing. The sheer diversity of animals and their well-maintained habitats left me in awe. The zoo’s commitment to conservation and education is truly inspiring. The layout is user-friendly, and the signage is informative, making it an enriching experience for all ages. The staff were courteous and helpful, adding to the overall enjoyment. I look forward to revisiting this incredible place in the future!

rajkk77 (rajkk77) — Google review

Wonderful zoo, lots of accessibility information around. Only problem is that it is SO BIG that you need more than one day. Opening times either need to be longer or weekend tickets available

Racheal Winson — Google review

Just been to the festive lights at the zoo. Had a brilliant time. Well organised plenty of parking and staff. Lights are great for all ages. Even have interactive characters. Food available (not cheap). Highly recommend

David Wilson — Google review

The best Zoo in the UK! Visited with my family. Tickets are bought in advance. Parking is free. Well-organized and friendly staff members! If you want to book a buggy, there are single and double buggy available. Only, there is an age and weight limit. 45kg and up to 7 years old. Book VR for kids. Face paint is available all around the zoo, 10-15£. They will love it! Moreover, you can book a family photo option which is an amazing experience. On your way back home you can get them printed. Decent price to be honest. Rhino is outside of the Zoo territory even before you enter so don't forget to see Rhinos! African Quarter is underway and expected to open Summer of 2025. Waiting!

Doniyorbek Muminov (Daniel) — Google review

Chester Zoo is a great family day out for young and old.Its constantly changing and growing, its built on an ethos of conservation and protecting the animals. Its a huge place and takes all day to get around and look at the species that are there. We took our own picnic as I always conscious of the captive audience prices. Indeed it cost £3.50 for a bottle of water. My Granddaughter had her face painted and the signage outside said this would cost £13 with a tail or ears. She chose a Tiger tail. My daughter was charged £17.50 for this.. this is shocking. I volunteered to go and bring this up with the face painting team, however my daughter didn't want a fuss making. So just be careful. £17.50 for a three year olds face painted and a tail. It is great to see the animals, however the feeling of being exploited in monetary terms is there throughout the day as everything has a hefty price tag to it.

Angel — Google review

One of the best zoos I have been to. There is a LOT of walking and it will take all day to get round. The animals look very well cared for. Their enclosures seem spacious and there are plenty of places for the animals to find shelter, if us visitors annoy them too much. Most of the animals were easy to spot, I think the tiger was the only one we didn't manage to see. Definitely worth the visit. Baby orangutans are adorable to watch.

Becca W — Google review

We visited today due to the teachers strike and bats off to Chester Zoo for allowing kids to go free, it was a big saving and allowed us to do something exciting. We booked in advance so gaining entry was very straight forward, parking was also plenty and well organised. To start with the place is massive, so please plan to be doing a lot of walking. This said it's all super accessible, a few small inclines but nothing too bad, we managed with a pushchair and five year old. There is some construction going on for new areas but it certainly didn't detract from the visit. The whole place was really clean and tidy, each exhibit looked fresh and not tired. There are so many animals to say and you can easily spend a full day here, I would certainly download the app and plan the visit. One area that pleasantly surprised me was the range of eating establishments. From quick tuck shops to a couple of really nice coffee houses. We are in the food hall, which wasn't too busy when we dined but I imagine it could be really busy during peak times. There were three food vendors, fresh pizza, fish and chips and burgers. The quality was really good, gone are the days of cheap fast food, this was fresh and good quality. We finished off with an ice cream Cheshire Farms. In conclusion I would recommend a visit, the whole place has grown and evolved so much over the years, so if you have never been or haven't been in a few years it is worth a day out!

Leigh Cartwright — Google review

So impressed. Best zoo I've ever visited. Keepers were amazing. Helpful, accommodating, happy to answer questions even when just walking around doing their jobs, not just when doing a talk. The food outlets were plenty and first class.

Gillian Hemphill — Google review

Fantastic day out! We arrived when the zoo opened and were one of the last cars to leave after it closed. The keepers and staff are all extremely friendly and look after the animals incredibly well. The zoo is absolutely massive so be prepared for a day of walking. There are however multiple food and drink outlets located across the zoo to give you that energy boost. The best zoo experience we have ever had, will certainly be returning.

Ruby Grant — Google review

A brilliant zoo with so much to see, impressive large enclosures for most of the animals add to the spectacle - except when the animals sometimes decide to hide! You need a good 6 hours minimum to see everything and enjoy what this wonderful zoo has to offer.

Jaykayar 666 — Google review

Visited yesterday in the rain. And it did rain. Fantastic day, everywhere clean and tidy, food halls offered a lot of choice. Enjoyed it that much we bought a season ticket.

Neil B — Google review

Absolutely fabulous day out, this is definitely one of the best zoos in the country. What makes it so good is down to the quality of everything on offer.First and foremost is the well-being of the animals, which are housed in large habitats that are well maintained and balanced to meet the needs of the inhabitants whilst still providing a close-up view for visitors. There's a very strong focus on conservation and education and a variety of displays and activities to reinforce the importance of caring for our environment. There's really so much here for the whole family that a short review cannot do the zoo justice.Go and find out for yourself, you won't be disappointed.

Michael Lees — Google review

We went to the lanterns and lights show that they have on in November and December it was fantastic we enjoyed this very much. I would definitely recommend going seeing this stunning event. Be prepared to walk so wear comfy shoes and wrap up.The only downside was the extortionate price of food and drinks in the food village.

Karen Dickinson — Google review

We attended the Chester Zoo Lanterns and Lights event and it was absolutely amazing. We've attended a few light shows before but this was by the far the best one we have attended due to how interactive it was.Our kids aged 7 & 4 absolutely loved it!

. Ahmed — Google review

This has to be one of the biggest zoos I have been to!I even heard a lion roar for the first time. Pretty much ever enclosures we were able to see the animals, unlike some other places I have been to where most the animals are hidden. You can really tell the animals have the care and space they need!

Amy louise Bradford — Google review

It’s a great zoo with plenty to keep you going all day. The staff are very approachable and friendly and were fantastic with my daughter who has additional needs. While it has to be understood that animals are not there to entertain it was frustrating that several of them were in an unsociable mood. The only criticism I’d level is that it’s very expensive, and once your in there’s a lot of opportunity to be further mined for coin. Also the layout has random sections and paths fenced off and it doesn’t flow well for seeing everything.

John Davies — Google review

Wow, an amazing zoo! It has been on my bucket list for a few years now, but I live 4 1/2 hours away. Weekend in Chester to accommodate.Fantastic enclosures. Amazing displays and so much to see and do. Just about got round once in 7.5 hours.

Jim Dazley — Google review

We had the most amazing time at Chester zoo yesterday! It was lovely to see all the staff there helping the animals and being so attentive. I would suggest getting there after dinner, as we got there around 10:30am and a lot of the animals were still asleep and hiding. I would also suggest bringing your own food, as the queues and service in the food court was quite slow.Overall, the experience was incredible and we cannot wait to go again!

Georgia Christine — Google review

Amazing place. Clean, spacious enclosures, animals seemed really happy and well cared for. Pricey when buying food and drink inside so would recommend taking a picnic, but what place isn't pricey on food and drink nowadays. The zoo was clean throughout, staff lovely and helpful. Boat ride down the lazy river is free. Flat ground to walk round, signage could be better. Can hire buggies for children and for those with mobility issues. A great day out.

Kerry Jeffcoate — Google review

Great visit, the kids loved it, spent about 6 hours here. Big area to cover with little legs so I would recommend having a list of favourite animals you want to see first and get them ticked off.Would recommend taking a packed lunch, you could leave it in the car and fetch it at lunchtime, there are plenty of places to eat at a picnic, saying that there is a food court with a variety of food on offer, burgers, fish and chips, pizza etc. They are always adding new attractions and wewill definitely be going back!

Dave Shields Fitness (DSHFitness) — Google review

Fantastic zoo, large enclosures well looked after animals 😀. Plenty of walking to do could easily spend all day there.Food and drinks are expensive, but they always are in a zoo. There is plenty of space to sit if you take a picnic

carrie murphy — Google review

Love Chester Zoo and on this visit was lucky enough to see Inka and managed to get some pictures. The 4D Gorilla experience is absolutely fantastic and well worth the £10 extra for the 2 of us. Like a couple of other reviews, only marked down because of the food. Very expensive and not very good quality which is a shame because when we first visited in 2019 the food was fantastic but since the food area reopened the quality is awful. Next time we will bring our own food.

Vikki W — Google review

We went to the lanterns and lights show that they have on in November and December it was fantastic the adults enjoyed it more then the children. The shop at the entrance was really well priced. I would definitely recommend going seeing. You can’t see the animals they were in bed 😁

An Unforgettable Wildlife Adventure at Chester ZooI recently had the pleasure of visiting Chester Zoo, and I must say, it was an experience I won't forget! The moment I stepped through the gates, I was immersed in a world of wonder and amazement. The variety and beauty of the wildlife here are simply breathtaking. From the majestic elephants to the playful monkeys swinging through the trees, every exhibit was a treat for the senses. The zoo's commitment to conservation and animal welfare shines through in every corner. What impressed me the most was the educational aspect. The informative talks and interactive displays added depth to the experience, allowing visitors to learn while having fun. The staff's dedication and passion for wildlife conservation were evident throughout the park. The layout is fantastic, offering a well-thought-out path that allowed me to explore comfortably without missing anything. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, and there were ample spots to take a break, relax, and enjoy the surroundings. The zoo's commitment to sustainability and the environment is admirable. It's evident they're not just a place for entertainment but a force for positive change in the world.Overall, my visit to Chester Zoo was an absolute delight! It's a must-visit for nature enthusiasts, families, and anyone seeking a fantastic day surrounded by beautiful animals and a welcoming atmosphere. A big thumbs up to Chester Zoo for their incredible efforts in wildlife preservation and for providing such an unforgettable experience."

A great zoo, much larger than we expected, with some stunning animals - you'll want a full day here. They also have 26 EV charge points available for guests, which is great! They're at a reasonable cost (40p/kWh at the time of posting), although are rather slow at about 3.7kW unfortunately, even when not shared. Great to see tourist places starting to add chargers though!

Craig MacGillivray-Peake — Google review

Yes it's a zoo and ultimately I'd much rather the animals live in the wild but as zoos go this is as good as it gets.Great place to visit, staff are generally very friendly and happy. Prices for food and drinks is bonkers but that's pretty standard for any UK attraction

G Wood — Google review

Wonderful day as always! We love Chester Zoo so much; it's always changing and improving. There's so much to see and you can tell the animals are extremely well cared for.

Amy Elizabeth — Google review

We arrived upon opening time and were surprised at how busy it was on a week day with the kids still at school. We were lucky enough to meet the 2 week old giraffe and witness a gorilla eating it's own feces, which was definitely an experience! We did take our own picnic, like many others, which I imagine saved us a small fortune. There are plenty seating areas, shaded and otherwise.Would love to revisit!

Laura Penman — Google review

Great experience, free car park. I would recommend allowing all day for this park, it is huge, so many animals to see. We enjoyed our day out, clean area, helpful staff

Amazing zoo for anyone interested in conservation and seeing animals in spacious, naturalistic habitats. Educational exhibits make it a great place to learn about wildlife. Highly recommend!

Cathedral

Sights & Landmarks

The Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral is a massive, cathedral-like building that is the largest in the UK and fifth largest in Europe. It was built between 1904 and 1958, and is famous for its beautiful architecture and artworks by contemporary artists.

I could see the metropolitan from my hotel and had to go see for myself, affectionately know as Paddy's Wigwam. This place is really a one of a kind, you will never see another like it. The outside is big but when you walk in to the main area the architecture and roof ate stunning and massive. There's loads to see and great photo opportunities inside and out. I highly recommend this attraction. You won't be disappointed.

A breath of Catholic fresh air! Stunning brutalist architecture! The history behind this structure is almost as fascinating as the building itself. Thank you, MARTIN, for such engaging conversation!!!

claudia — Google review

Beautiful place, lovely service, open to public. Really amazing glass panes - ideal to see on a sunny day. Also, I do strongly recommend visiting The Crypt - said to be the 3rd largest cathedral in the city. Amazing building and treasures.

Rose Tomala — Google review

Such a beautiful n modern style building standing in the middle of the city on a high platform. A lot of stairs u need to jump for entrance or there’s a step free entrance too. As soon as u entered this building, u feel the difference. Massive big giant hall with centre stage. Love that big ceiling blue light. So peaceful n relaxing atmosphere. There was practice going on for the main service.

Most definitely worth visiting. Beautiful interior design and numerous alcoves with varying artistic works - wood carvings, tapestries, paintings - extensive glassworks, and informative explanatory panels. Up there with the Cathedral in Los Angeles for moving and thoughtful design and art.

Tony Brown — Google review

Now, I will admit I thought we would be in and out of this Cathedral in about 15 minutes. We were actually there for nearly 2 hours! The crypt is a must see and well worth the £5 entry fee. A fascinating story of what the Cathedral was meant to look like. The Cathedral itself is very modern compared to other Cathedrals, but that doesn't retract from its beauty.I wish I knew her name, but we were shown down to the crypt by a lovely friendly member of staff, who gave us a quick history of the Cathedral.A definite must see if you are in Liverpool.

Mark 747 — Google review

Beautiful cathedral, unusual in its design and so modern compared to how you think about classic cathedrals but a joy to visit so quiet and serene inside the colours dancing through the stained glass were captivating. The most beautiful stations of the cross I have ever seen . But judge for yourself . Go visit and enjoy .

ann phillips — Google review

Huge! Impressive and incredibly spacious. Inside, you feel as if you are in some kind of internal and safe space, filled with peace and tranquility.

Pink Jellifish — Google review

Liverpool's second cathedral. An interesting piece of architecture that stands out in the surroundings and is a cool site to visit and walk around. The wigwam like design is unique and fascinating.

Matthew Harwood — Google review

You must visit this if you are in the City. It's like no other building you've seen, and is particularly stunning inside. The walk around the chapels and rooms around the perimeter takes you into all sorts of niches with all sorts of art and history; from sculpture to weaving, and from England to Ukraine. A lovely feeling, and well worth some time, whether you are spiritual or not.

Peter Barratt — Google review

Came here for a quick visit - Xmas Eve - 24-12-23 - after going to Carol service at Liverpool Cathedral. Two amazing cathedrals but very different in architecture. One is gothic and the other is modern but both are magnificent in their own way. The Metropolitan is amazing in the fact it is built in a circular shape and the architecture is more new and modern than its counterpart Liverpool Cathedral but stunning in terms of how it has been built as it is quite unique. We didn't stay for service but had a quick look round. Thank you to the security man for letting me take some pictures. I loved the nativity scenes and huge tapestry's.Definitely would recommend a visit here, day or night.

Joanna M L Fearn — Google review

This beautiful church with lots of history, definitely need be seen. There is an excellent cafe with fab food, lovely gift shop, and the chance to go to the top and take in the great views of the Wirral, Mersey, and Liverpool areas. A fantastic 360° view.

Christine Mcdonough — Google review

A stunning piece of architecture no matter your religious persuasions. If the staff offer a potted history then listen as it really helps contextualise the building and if you can afford to see the crypt too, it’s like seeing two different churches in one. Not essential but curious in its incongruity.

M M — Google review

Fabulous only got see outside but it was a nice experience of a night no people. Have been inside though its breathtaking definitely worth a visit if you've never been don't forget your camera

sandra carter — Google review

Amazing contemporary postwar architecture. What I was really surprised about is originál plan for a second biggest catholic cathedral in the world. Due to second world war and death of architect the whole plan was reconsidered and completely different architectural approach was used to built significantly cheaper and more plain, but huge structure on the crypt (only part from originál project which was actually build). Concrete make amazing harmony with vitrage Windows and light inside is really powerful and spiritual. Love it

Marek Kluka — Google review

What an amazing building, even if you are not religious you should visit this cathedral just to admire the architecture. It is full of amazing light and shadows and us definitely something special.Places like this are best visited in complete silence so as to allow the mind to wrest and think about life, to meditate on family and all the good things in life .To also wrestle with the horrors that surround us and happen daily in this life.We have so much to be thankful for but sometimes we can forget that .

DOVETAIL1990 — Google review

Facing the Anglican Cathedral at the other end of Hope Street, "Paddy's Wigwam" couldn't be more different. From the outside it appears rather functional. But inside, it's beauty takes the breath away. It is flooded with light from the stained glass panels that fill the space, with beautiful shafts of red, blue and purple filtered light. The crypt below is vast and quite breathtaking. It is topped off with the many modern works of art that fill the many nooks and crannies. Properly Epic!

Ganu Gasperoo — Google review

Absolutely stunning. The building itself is a work of art, and it has many small chapels, each containing a piece of art. There's a wealth of information about the history of the cathedral, both in the foyer and the chapels. I became so absorbed in the art and the very special atmosphere, I lost track of time. There's a crypt which you pay to enter; it had closed by the time I arrived so it's worth checking the timings before you visit.

Isabella Garcia — Google review

It's a very unique place to visit in Liverpool that is located slightly outside the city centre yet well-worth the walk (or drive, and at least a half an hour visit as its both history and style (architectural) are very interesting and particular.Liverpool has two cathedrals because Liverpool is the centre of the Liverpool Anglican diocese (Church of England) and so it has an Anglican Cathedral, and it is also the centre of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Liverpool. This one is the largest Catholic cathedral in Englanda, therefore it plays an important part in the life of the City of Liverpool and Merseyside. It's free to visit, thereforeI recommend to check it out from inside as well.

Richárd Vámossy — Google review

I really enjoyed visiting this cathedral! Earlier in the day we visited the Anglican cathedral; the two are very different! It’s quite an impressive sight to see this cathedral loom up at the end if the approach; it really reminded me of a spaceship as it’s so modern.Inside, I just loved the amazing colours from the stained glass panels, many quite traditional but others ultra modern. There is a wonderful feeling of light and space; I really enjoyed looking around. If visiting again I would go down to explore the crypt; we just didn’t have enough time today.Highly recommended!Update: revisiting 6 months later but I still didn’t get the chance to visit the crypt! This really is a must-see when visiting Liverpool.

Anne Stagg Hypnotherapy — Google review

A truly beautiful modern building that is striking at any level - when looking at it from far away, or coming closer, or wandering inside, or walking around it. The geometry, the scale, and the colours of the interior are inspiring.

Tanya Yurasova — Google review

Beautiful cathedral, a must see if you're in Liverpool. Free to enter the main cathedral, £5 charge to enter the crypt including museum which is well worth paying. The cathedral has a very interesting history. Originally designed by Edwin Lutyens and His Grace Archbishop Downey in the 1930s to be a Romanesque behemoth of a building towering over Merseyside, surrounding counties and the Irish sea, it would've been the second largest church with the largest dome in the world. The very expansive crypt was already mostly complete by the time plans fell through and was later used as a pedestal for the much smaller but still large modern Cathedral to sit on top of. The old crypt contains chapels, tombs, event rooms and a very tastefully done museum that covers the history of Catholicism in the local area, the history of Liverpool and the history of the building. Great examples of religious and liturgical artefacts also, including historic chalices, ciboria, monstrances, episcopal vestments etc, all very well labeled and explained. The staff I met were very friendly and helpful. The crypt was mostly empty of visitors when I called in on a weekday afternoon so a really lovely lady called Helen gave me a great impromptu tour of the crypt and pointed out lots of details that would be easily missed. The main cathedral upstairs is a fantastic example of 1960s Second Vatican Council era architecture (imho by far the most emblematic and impressive example anywhere in Britain or Ireland), not at all tacky or kitsch like some 20th century Catholic churches can be. The stained glass plays beautifully with daylight, there's a feeling of spaciousness throughout and the side chapels are beautiful. I'd imagine it's a lovely place for big diocesan liturgies and for Easter or Christmas morning Mass.

Chester's city walls date back to the Roman era and are a significant historical landmark. The three-kilometre walkway that overlooks the wall protects visitors from seeing the defences in their entirety, as only Chester has maintained these walls throughout the centuries.

Really nice walk that takes you round all of Chester. We really enjoyed seeing all the sites and reading about the history. Definitely a recommendation if you visit the city

Josie Mellor — Google review

We did the walls in about 45-50 minutes, taking a more leisurely pace as we read all the signs along the way and stopped for pictures a few times. The walk is well paved, though there are stairs in places, and it's a pretty easy walk compared to other city wall walks we've done. It's extremely picturesque to do the whole loop as it passes the cathedral, racecourse, main shopping area, and more historic sites along the way. Highly recommend if in Chester as it's free and you get to see a good amount of the town.

Becky T — Google review

This is a great free way to explore Chester without worrying about getting lost. You can see the river, Racecourse, Cathedral, The Rows, Roman Gardens and Amphitheatre all from walking the walls.

The walk round the city wall is a great way to introduce yourself to Chester. Great views over the River Dee, the shopping centre (get off by the amazing clock tower), the Cathedral, the castle and the Racetrack. Chester is rightly famous for its wonderful black and white buildings, great shops and pubs some of which have a lot of history themselves. It's about 2 miles round, so not too strenuous. After doing it, you probably won't get lost anywhere in the city.

If in Chester you should try and visit the city wallAnd walk around as much if not all that you can .It’s a great photo opportunity for different pictures of the city from different angles and places. You can start and finish your walk in many different places. The wall unfortunately is not accessible at all for anyone with a need for a wheelchair or sticks with many many steps up and down around the top of the wall .Be aware also it can be slippery though out the winter period. All pictures taken by my brother on this visit.

Roman walls around Chester City Centre. In all about 5,000 steps, (approx 2 miles) ancient built Roman wall, restored to make a fabulous and interesting walk round Chester city Center.Starts by the river and Chester castle, takes in the city Center, the Roman Amphitheatre, Chester cathedral, the canal, and Chester race horse track.Lots of places to stop, eat & drink, walking tours available if you want.A walk and wander along the City Walls is one of the best ways to discover and experience the magnificent history of Chester. All in all great couple of hours walk taking in all the history and sights of Chester.Highly recommended!

Great views from the city walls. Steep steps in places but worth it. Nice stroll with a different view of the city.

Chester city walls consist of a defensive structure built to protect the city of Chester in Cheshire, England. Their construction was started by the Romans when they established the fortress of Deva Victrix between 70 and 80 CE. It originated with a rampart of earth and turf surmounted by a wooden palisade. From about 100 CE they were reconstructed using sandstone, but were not completed until over 100 years later. The walls are now the one of the most tourist attractions in Chester City.

A 2 mile walk around Chester city walls. The walls are almost complete. Start at the Roman gardens & follow the walls past the cathedral, Charles I tower, the race course, castle & back to the Roman gardens. Wonderful Victorian clock tower.

hayley Easthope — Google review

The walls surround the city, providing you with beautiful views of the spectacular city. It is approximately a 2 mile walk on uneven surfaces that include climbing stairs. I wouldn't recommend for anyone with mobility issues.

Cathedral

Sights & Landmarks

Chester Cathedral is an imposing Gothic cathedral built on the site of a much older church and abbey dating back to the 9th century. The structure was extensively remodeled following the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1541, with Late Gothic features such as a stunning tower and west front added. It's located in Chester, one of England's historic cities and well worth a visit for its breathtaking architecture.

We did the volunteer guided tour of the cathedral and it was brilliant. Our guide, David, who has known this building from childhood, was so knowledgeable about the history of the building and answered all our questions. He brought the history of the cathedral alive with his descriptions and stories, giving us a real sense of the social history of Chester through art, architecture, religion & politics. There are three of Robert Thompson's "mice" in the cathedral. We saw one; we're coming back for a "mouse hunt" to find the other two!The refectory appropriately houses the café, and is in itself spectacular with the most fabulous modern stained glass window set at one end, and walls full of generations of chiselled graffiti. Great selection of food and beverages, all very reasonably priced, with pleasant staff.I highly recommend this place, even if you're not the slightest bit religious like me. You shouldn't really visit Chester and miss out on going to the cathedral. You'd do yourself an injustice.

Sophia Bee — Google review

We were pleasantly surprised by the cathedral and volunteers. Entry is by donation only, though at Christmas it is £2.50 for the Christmas trees. There are beautiful ceilings, floors, mosaics, stained glass windows, woodwork, and more to see inside. They are also building a Lego model of the cathedral, with people able to pay £1 per brick then actually contribute it to the sculpture. (Very innovative fundraising idea!)Make sure to check out the cafe - it’s an amazing atmosphere.Toilets, gift shop, and tours also available.

Hate religion but love religious architecture. This cathedral is absolutely stunning, and the staff are lovely too. Nothing was too much trouble.Definitely make sure you visit the cloisters and the lovely garden.

Mike Bishop — Google review

Absolutely stunning cathedral and it’s free entry. Lots of details about the history of the region and the importance of this cathedral. Nice posh cafe inside woth seasonal menus. The best highlight is the eagle wooden stand in front of the church speaker which looks like the owl one in the harry potter films.

Anthony Chan — Google review

This is the best cathedral I have seen in England. It is very large and beautiful both outside and inside. It is like a museum and quite inexpensive. We spent about one hour on the inspection. Here you can see a rare picture on a web, an old organ, silent bells as an exhibition, etc. Admission is just £3.

The most beautiful cathedral we visited on our tour of the UK. It was magnificent! A history dating back to 1092 with amazing architecture and woodwork. A must see if you are in Chester.

Shondra J — Google review

This Cathedral is wonderful and must be visited! The star of our visit was Emma who took us on the tour of the tower. Don't be put off by the number of stairs and narrow passages, the tour is broken by visits to balconies with views into the cathedral. Emma gave a concise, informative and clear history of all we saw. We loved Chester but the tower tour topped everything!

Terry Ridley-Ellis — Google review

A very interesting cathedral to visit. The cafe is great in a large adjoining hall. The staff were very friendly and the quality of the food was excellent, plus it was very busy even at 3pm. At the moment they have a curious array of glass oddities from a local shop. Great to look at but not cheap.

malcolm watson — Google review

It's a beautiful building and entrance is free.(Donations welcomed.)But inside is amazing. Ended up buying a book for more information (at the gift shop inside.)Theres a lot to see inside and it's so fascinating! Was snapping pictures like crazy as it's just so beautiful.Well worth going to see!ENJOY!

What a stunning cathedral! I've been there twice, it is worth the effort to see it. Really intricate design inside. Our group enjoyed seeing this amazing place. Even if you have visited many old cathedrals, you'll love this one.

Ilene Hacker — Google review

It's just a lovely place to spend a few hours in no matter what your religion. I think what took me a bit off guard being from the States was how there were gardens around the main cathedral filled with children and couples just enjoying the sunlight!!! Didn't take any photos to not indrude!!📸

claudia — Google review

A beautiful cathedral that’s free to enter situated in the centre of Chester town centre. It’s a lovely little excursion for those that like to wander around historical religious buildings. The huge ornate pipe organ and stained glass windows are gorgeous, with the walk around the inner garden which is beautiful in the sunshine.Well worth a visit for those visiting Chester.

Chris C317 — Google review

What an amazing place to visit. So much history and so well presented, with brilliant staff on hand. Everything is explained and there is a lot to learn. Highly recommended for anyone interested in religious history, social history or architecture.

Gareth Stringer — Google review

Beautiful place to walk through. It’s a donation of £5 to enter. There’s a cafe, toilets, garden and Lego area. They offer tours too. The architecture is stunning on the inside.

Shenny Penny — Google review

Well worth a visit. An interesting mix of modern stained glass windows and original medieval. Quite a bit bigger than it looks externally. Definitely something yo visit if you happen to be in Chester.

Robin Marshall — Google review

A beautiful cathedral with plenty of history and tales. I was fortunate to have a solo tower tour - simply because no one else had booked. If your budget allows it, go up to the tower via the spiral staircases, belfry and galleries not normally open to the public. My tour guide, Matt, was knowledgeable and engaging. Highly recommended.

i Weasel — Google review

It was a great opportunity to visit the amazing and eye-charming architecture of Chester Cathedral, surprisingly it was free for all visitors. The staff was kind and helpful, it was huge and had a lot of religious and historical inscriptions, and also rich in archaeological writings and symbols. It impressed me and I recommend visiting it to all those coming to the city of Chester.

Ibrahim Wesabi — Google review

My wife and I enjoyed exploring Chester Cathedral during our stay in the historic city. Even from outside on the main shopping streets, the tall spires caught our eye and attracted us to pay a visit.Pre-Christmas, the visit was not free and required modest fee for the tree exhibit.Stepping inside was like going back in time. Tall stone arches rose high above us and it was remarkably quiet (maybe the entry fee or the cold day). The sunlight streaming through colorful stained glass windows was beautiful.Few friendly volunteers were there to help us learn more. The special exhibits for Christmas added holiday cheer, like a hallway filled with decorated trees. It was fascinating to learn about the building's 900 year history. Everything was well taken care of so visitors could appreciate the architecture and art up close.Whether interested in history, art or just looking for a peaceful place, the cathedral is worth a stop.Even without being religious, this place gave a sense of the past. The friendly staff made our visit more interesting too.Chester Cathedral should be on any visitor's list while exploring this historic town.

Sam Aberman — Google review

Really interesting history and incredible architecture. Everyone inside was very knowledgeable and happy to tell you all about the cathedral. Definitely a go to visit if you're in the city

Josie Mellor — Google review

Amazing cathedral! It is extremely well preserved, the garden is wonderfully coloured in the spring season and all the small details that compose it creates an amazing place to walk and relax. You have very old manufacts and modern ones, such as the LEGO (yes, LEGO!) model of the whole building. Something you think to be in another epoch while you walk among the beautiful columns of some of its rooms... absolutely recommended!

RS — Google review

Beautiful cathedral with very friendly and welcoming staff. On the day of my visit, the Dean actually walked around, talking to many visitors, wished them a good day. Ideal place for sitting/slowing down away from the bustling town outside. There are guided tours that I missed but will take them on the next visit.

Thang To — Google review

Excellent cathedral, with stunning architecture and details. Highly recommended the Tower tour for detailed information on the cathedrals history, plus the stunning views from the top of the tower.

Abra Cadabra — Google review

If you want to visit one of Britain's grandest cathedrals this is the place to go. Majestic on the outside and beautiful on the inside, whether your religious or not this building will leave you in a state of wonder. You can admire the majestic interior of the building or just sit in a quiet alcove and let your thoughts drift back into history to the times of the previous Bishops or even your loved ones of the past. It even has things for the children to see, including a duplicate copy of the cathedral which they are currently constructing in Lego. There is a shop where you can purchase religious artifacts and local jewelry and there is a cafe where you can get very good food at a reasonable price. You can also purchase a sandwich, drink or a meal to be given to the homeless, an excellent idea in which I participated. A visit not to be missed and if you can stay a few days you can explore the beautiful city of Chester.

Terry Dargue — Google review

Amazing visit to a jewel in the Northwest area! Fantastic building on its own, but with the added plus of a model railway setup to drool over. Had a great day with great mates and heartily reccomended a visit to this wonderful cathedral!

Baz Smith — Google review

Went to Chester to walk the town walls and saw the beautiful cathedral and thought would pop in to see the Xmas trees on display, it was stunning and so was the garden. Exceeded my expectations. Impressed with the array of goods for sale in the Gift shop, would have liked to use the cafe but just missed it, heard an amazing choir singing/rehearsing too, added to the atmosphere. We used the, out of town, park and ride service. Free parking and 2. 50 an adult bus fare.

Jo anna — Google review

As Cathedrals go, as one would expect, vast and impressive. With some delightful embellishments of a non- religious nature. Not least the cafe . Austere, impersonal, and ,as a feat of engineering, remarkable. But I prefer the intimacy of the original cathedral, the church of St. John ,which I recommend

Duncan Parsons — Google review

We can say its an archaeological treasure. A different experience of ancient cathedral.Recently experienced when i got an invitation to attend the graduation ceremony of one of my friend. Truly amazing and picture arts in the side walls are very fascinating.

Amigo Raaza — Google review

I went there last year to see Pete Waterman's railway layout. It was amazing to watch it all in action. While I was there I wandered around the cathedral and it was astounding to look at all the intricate woodwork and masonry. I never knew it was a Benedictine Abbey. Well worth going along.

Andy Roberts — Google review

This is such a beautiful building and quite rightly The locals are very proud of it. I was lucky enough to see it over the Christmas. and it was so beautifully decorated with an exhibition of Christmas trees from the local schools. It was just a beautiful sight thank, you Chester.

Wow what an amazing Cathedral! It is absolutely beautiful and steeped in history. You could spend half a day in here. History related to maritime, world wars, local history, wellbeing. The choir were rehearsing, what an absolute joy and pleasure, angelic. Lovely cafe and toilet facilities. There is even a bookstore and gift shop.

Pub

Ye Olde Boot Inn is a pub located in Chester, England with a charming and low-key atmosphere. It serves pub food in the upstairs dining area and airs English cricket matches on TV.

Was surprised when one of the barmen came up to us and told us to stop looking at our phones. He explained that it was a 'No Device' pub and that talking and drinking beer was encouraged. Must admit there were signs all over stating such but we never noticed them. After laughing about it and putting away our phones we quite enjoyed this welcome change for a drinking establishment. The beer as well as the price was good. A recommended pub in Chester if you are looking for a quieter old style pub without people looking through their phones non stop 😉.

John Ward — Google review

When we called in there was only us in the Bar however were given a warm welcome to this old period establishment. Wife thought she would be a little nervous if only her in the premises and the lights were off, given the age of the building and the people and things that will have also graced the premises. Worth a visit

Michael Poole — Google review

A very old pub situated upstairs. It's a laptop and phone free pub. People come to have a chat and also read a book.!! No music and can be a bit quiet. But if you like to chill out its a great place

Jackie Renton — Google review

Great to see a pub full of rules!! no phones, no tablets, no smoking (felt like I’d gone back in time), no children, no debit cards, no swearing, no laptops, etc.Interesting to see the ‘No children’ rule not being adhered to by staff as a child in school uniform stood behind the bar. I think I’d have more respect for the pubs/breweries ridiculous rules if they adhered to it themselves.Pub seemed to be divided in to two groups; local folk born within the city walls (this was actually a topic of conversation) and outsiders bemused by the rules, Scouse couple next to us seemingly felt the same as us, and as we were unable to discuss which Roman emperors had been born in or visited Chester we supped our pints (which in fairness were decent) and left for a better boozer.

Steve — Google review

Amazing Very old pub right on the main street in Chester on the Balcony. Nice to find somewhere with no technology allowed. So people were actually sitting together and talking. Nice Samuel Smith beer

Dianne Barton — Google review

Up the stairs on second floor. Long narrow bar. Very old pub, no side windows, very dark inside. Popped in for a beer which was fine and at a reasonable price. Toilets were upstairs. Enjoyed my visit.

Paul Phipps — Google review

Proper pub, really old, great drinks, cheap, staff are friendly. Greeted at the door and seated us with table service. Perfect place for a nice drink. No phones allowed out so you actually have to talk to people. I've lived in Chester for 10+ years and this has always been my favourite pub but I've not been in for a while. Definitely worth a visit if you're out in Chester.

We go to Chester for a weekend every year. This is our favourite pub. Good quality beer, great value, great atmosphere. Also digital detox is a great idea, I couldn't see anyone inside on their phones.

Andy Reynolds (Herbert pocket) — Google review

Full of history, plus cheap beer. When in Chester this is a must for a pit stop. Steep steps up but well worth the climb. Staff friendly and beer refreshing and easy on your wallet.

malcolm watson — Google review

Sam Smiths pub, dimly lit, there's usual beers on offer, plus the threats of expulsion for violating their draconian "rules" around electronic devices. The Owner of this brewery is proper old school, and hates innovation.

Matt Reid — Google review

Called in for a beer with friends, very old establishment typically old Chester, highly recommended but don't think about using your phone as they are banned.

Keith Riley — Google review

Quiet old style pub. Good beer! No phones allowed - conversation encouraged. Something a little bit different in today's world 😃

Gail Fisk — Google review

Was unsure of this place at first it being no phones laptops etc but it got me and my partner talking having a laugh without the need of our phones it was just what we needed. I loved it very cosy and the cider was lovely and I love the character of the pub.

Lovely old pub on the rows but you are given rules to follow, one of them being no mobile phones or messaging devices. At first I thought fair enough until I noticed it didn't apply to people paying with their phone. All the beers are Sam Smith's.

Cathedral

Sights & Landmarks

The impressive Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool is one of the largest and most popular places of worship in the world. Built between 1904 and 1978, its interior is a true achievement of Gothic Revival architecture, with soaring arches and a viewing tower that offers stunning views of the city. The cathedral also has the third-largest bell in the world and an organ with 9,765 pipes, making it one of the most impressive places to worship on Earth.

A stunning place to visit. I am not religious in anyway but I certainly appreciate the architecture and history of this unbelievably huge cathedral. The outside is a sight to behold absolutely massive. The inside is amazing the stained glass windows are breathtaking as is the rest of the place. Well worth a visit

Liverpool Cathedral is an awe-inspiring architectural gem that should not be missed. From the moment you approach its grand entrance, the sheer magnitude and beauty of this magnificent structure will leave you breathless. The soaring ceilings, intricate stained glass windows, and intricate details throughout make for a truly mesmerizing experience. The sheer scale of the cathedral is astounding, and the panoramic views from the tower are simply stunning. The serene atmosphere and the peacefulness within the cathedral create a sense of tranquility and contemplation. The knowledgeable guides and staff are welcoming and eager to share the rich history and stories behind this remarkable place. Liverpool Cathedral is a must-visit for its architectural grandeur, spiritual significance, and the profound sense of awe it instills in visitors.

An amazing building from the architectural and spiritual viewpoints. Its size is awesome. Although it's not the largest cathedral in the UK it apparently is the longest. The stained glass windows and other features inside are quite incredible. As well as performing marriage ceremonies the actual reception and meal can be held here and on our visit the dining tables were on view.Well worth a visit.

Neil Broadhurst — Google review

I recently had the opportunity to visit the Liverpool cathedral which is the tallest cathedral in the UK! The real highlight of my visit was the ability to climb to the top of the cathedral. There was a small fee to pay but it was 100% worth the money. When I reached to top I was greeted with breathtaking views of the city. As it was a clear day I could see for miles. The panoramic views of liver were amazing to see. The experience was amazing and can see why the cathedral is a popular tourist attractions and a must see for anyone in the city. I would highly recommend so you can see the beauty and wonder of Liverpool at the highest point.

An absolutely gorgeous building. The outside is quite imposing but the inside is beautiful. Spent an afternoon wondering around the enormous building. Free entry with a recommended donation. Worth it for those who like architecture, history and culture.

Eve Nicholls — Google review

I came here with my family in mid-March, and it was beyond majestic. Just approaching the main doors you know that what's inside is truly a sight to behold. We spent about two hours just taking in all the awe-inspiring designs, observing all the intricate features in the stained glass windows, and going up to the top level of the cathedral to observe a 360 view of this great city. The World War memorial area was a tearful touch to what must be the most beautiful of cathedrals. Some photos are attached as the testament to the glory of this grand building.

Jason Oliver — Google review

Attended for the sound and light performance that was on for a limited time.So glad we went, it was so beautiful and well attended. The atmosphere was amazing and put one in the Christmas mood. The whole cathedral was illuminated and the music very moving.Very reasonably priced with friendly staff.Well worth a visit if you can next year!

It is nice to see that it is free to enter but do like a donation and that's fine. There are places you can not get if in a wheelchair. There is a lift down to the ladies chapel. Great place to visit and experience

Ali Lias (#ALiPiC) — Google review

Absolutely amazing place, we missed the opportunity to go up to the top but would defiantly go back again to experience it. I'd like it if there was more educational points dotted around the place. Or even tour people to be able to answer general questions. So much to take in. The cafe is lovely too, and the parking is pretty reasonable. Will defiantly back

What a great building, not as old as we thought, but definitely built in a style. Every time we thought that was it, we found other chapels and rooms, alot of history and small exhibits. Very peaceful. We tried the food in the cafe, it was great, well cooked, good portions, real old fashioned chips and good quality.

A massive church build in the 20th century. Was nice to check out the building's history and even got to see the choral rehearsing which was nice. There are many things to see inside (even if you're not religious) and there is even a bistro where you can have lunch. Free entry.

Really lovely Cathedral, felt very modern as it was so clean and fresh. The gentleman welcoming us in was very pleasant, he have us a map and told us which way to go and that if we wanted to go to the top of the Cathedral we could for a charge. We lit a couple of candles and donated some money which was a nice experience. The stained glass windows were stunning, I am sure even more so when the sun in shining through.Very quiet and peaceful.I would definitely say go and visit if you are in Liverpool.

The cathedral was a great choice in a sunny day. The architecture is quite stark but the vaulted ceilings are incredible. Went to the top of the tower (for £7 pp) and had beautiful views of the city. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Went here in morning during my visit in Liverpool. One of the most beautiful and grand cathedrals of UK. The interiors are stunning. The place is huge and the church is very well maintained. I would definitely recommend this place.

Satyajit Das — Google review

Beautiful and awe-inspiring cathedral, both inside and outside. More of a tourist attraction than a place of worship - the cafe sits partly inside the main bit of the cathedral with chairs and tables just behind where congregation sits! But making it an attraction means it's very inclusive which I loved. They had some art/exhibitions around the theme of unity which was moving. Some interactive. And the tower experience is well worth the money of the ticket provided you aren't scared of heights or have mobility issues. Beautiful views across the city on a clear day like we had.

Visited here for the first time on Xmas Eve - 24-12-23 for the Xmas Carol Service and had a wonderful evening.Upon arrival I was taken back in awe by the sheer size of the magnificent cathedral. It truly is breath-taking!Once inside, I gasped taking in the high ceilings and gothic architecture as well as the sounds of the mighty organ. It is a sight to behold and the organ sounds amazing! It was very atmospheric going for a service. It's a space that encourages reflection and introspection, offering visitors a moment of respite from the outside world. The Liverpool Cathedral isn't just a place of worship; it's a living masterpiece that invites you to explore its depths, absorb its history, and marvel at the artistic prowess that brought it to life. Whether you're a person of faith or simply an admirer of architectural brilliance, a visit to this cathedral is an experience that lingers in your memory long after you've left its hallowed halls.

It is a truly stunning structure. Its exterior is majestic, while the interior is breathtaking. I wandered around the vast building for quite some time. There's no entrance fee, but donations are suggested. Highly recommended for enthusiasts of architecture, history, and culture.

An interesting and unique historical sight in Liverpool that I would recommend to visit for both foreigners and domestic tourists/locals.In terms of overall volume, Liverpool Cathedral ranks as the fifth-largest cathedral in the world. It's massive, therefore it dominates the area and stand out in term of size and architectural style. It is surrounded by a cemetery which is a great place for a walk because it's very quite, green and well-maintained comfortable area. There are parking lots on the territory of the cathedral and some racks for bycicles nearby as well. The building is free to visit but donationt are welcomed.Toilets and coffee shop are also available so it can be a good spot for some relaxation and brake.I can recommend it.

A stunning piece of architecture that stands out along the city skyline and is a tall imposing structure on top of the hill. One of the most famous sites of the city and a nice spot to visit while visiting. The shear size of this building is incredible and will leave you awestruck.

The world-renowned Liverpool World Museum is home to an awe-inspiring collection of artifacts from around the globe, from life sciences and earth sciences to human culture. There's an aquarium and planetarium too, as well as impressive Greek, Roman and Anglo-Saxon collections. Perfect for adults and children of all ages, this museum is a must-see on any Liverpool itinerary!

So half term week visit for us ( Thursday )Nice greeting from the staff when we entered which was nice.Very busy but to be expected as it was the school holidays.Lost of exhibits here for you to explore and look at which was great!Well signed and instructions on what way to walk.Me and my daughter loved it.No issues at all! Well done folks!

ste mac — Google review

This museum is amazing. You could easily spend a whole day here. I would mark a star down for the lift situation but that's down to people not having common sense and courtesy for those with wheelchairs/buggies etc. We waited a while for the lifts as we wanted to start at level 5 and work the way down. We had a wheelchair so the stairs weren't an option but other people in the queue for the lift could've had more consideration. There's an amazing cafe on the ground floor which has amazing fresh made produce and meals. All of the staff in there were super friendly aswell. They had a monster making event on the top floor when we visited made from soft dough which hardened. Again this was free. The mummy room and Ancient Egyptian floor is second to none. My daughter is very much interested in this and has wanted to visit a museum but this blew her mind. They also offer a quiet space should you need to pray whilst at the museum which is absolutely brilliant. This was a fabulous way to spend a day during half term.

Laura Sallemi — Google review

Worth a visit if you haven't been before, but beware the warm claustrophobic overcrowding of families on holidays and weekends!Multiple tiered building, so you can either take the lift (which would most likely be packed) or the hundreds of stairs.Live fish in the small aquarium section, and bugs in the bug floor (cool ants and tarantulas!), but seem very compacted in their habitat spaces. There's a suggested donation, with the opportunity to store your bags in the locker room in front of the gift shop.Ultimately a place for families and kids for children's playing interaction!

Ash Imya — Google review

Been here first time but glad I made it. now, it's a great museum. There's so much to look at and brilliant place to take kids with you or made a family tour because there's a lot for kids. Keep them busy for a couple of hours.I like the aquarium area, butterflies, Egyptian mummy section and many more. BTW just one lift for big massive building and couple of floors not enough. Stair case was full busy. It's free entry then why not enjoy. Superb location just in front of train station.

win task — Google review

Outstanding, absolutely incredible that a place so rich with cool stuff to look at is still free these days, great few hours out with the kids. Parking can be a bit tricky outside as many of the machines were not functional when we last visited, but there's places nearby - It's within easy walking distance of the train station though so that's an option to.Also, if you want the planetarium book online in advance, we couldn't get in the morning session sadly as it was all booked up.I'd add that our last visit in Feb 2022, EVERYONE we interacted with in Liverpool was super friendly.

Daniel White — Google review

*free* entry apart from the doctor who area , though everything else was really interesting! multiple floors with different types of topics like dinosaurs, space, and even a aquarium! there is a gift shop and cafe on the left side of the museum, and the stairs and elevators are on the right. lots of toilets; some can be found of the floors. there are also real taxidermy, bugs and mummies. very good place to spend time at!

s.s — Google review

Amazing place! Definitely requires patience when using the lift because there's only two but considering the place is free is definitely worth visiting. Staff were helpful and friendly and has a lot of interesting things to look at and is a great place for kids! Parking situation is dire and expensive but it is in the centre of Liverpool so can't blame them.

Louie Evans — Google review

Amazing place to see aquarium and Egyptian mummies and very detailed information about cultures around the world. I was in a awe that I nearly forgot to take pictures. Worth a visit. Under 2 min walkable distance from Liverpool lime Street station.

Amal Nath — Google review

Wow, I took my son to kill some time, and we had the best experience. It was quite bust due to half term but wasn't too overwhelming, which was nice, and this museum is just fantastic. I love that it has an aquarium and a brilliant Egyptian exhibition. There's a cafe but we didn't go in and a nice little shop. Just loved it, had a fab afternoon

Bekki Hughes — Google review

Excellent day out for the kids! Lots of things fir them to see and admire, especially for free! My children loved looking at all the artifacts and learning about their interests. It was pretty busy but was to expected on a rainy half term day! No waiting time to enter we just walked straight in. We enjoyed our picnic on the top floor in the picnic area, highly recommend! There was a number if staff in the bug area who told us all about the crabs and them getting to big and needing to find another. My daughter then talked about the butterflies and showed a picture of a caterpillar she found at home, he listened to her and gave her more information and knowledge! Such great communication with children the staff had!

Kay B — Google review

I enjoyed this place more than I thought I would. Yes it’s far too kid-friendly for me. But the Egyptian exhibit is great and was of keen interest, having been to Egypt myself earlier this year. The exhibit on Benin is also quite interesting but I didn’t have time to read through it all. Would definitely recommend a visit especially as it’s free.

Jennifer Smith — Google review

What a fantastic little museum, with a bit of everything that kids have loved for decades, from ancient Egyptian mummies to even more ancient dinosaurs, to a planetarium to see above the planet and an aquarium to see the depths below. I would comment on the cost of the cafe, but the midterm is free, and the food is good quality, so think that works out fair. Fantastic for a day out, and it's on the yellow and red open top your bus routes, (not sure about blue though)

Jonathan Lawrence — Google review

Amazing, we paid for the planetarium which was awesome (maybe too relaxing🤣) we paid to see the war of the gods exhibition too, but that was far too much money for the 20 minutes it took to wall around, it really wasn't worth the 16 for 2 adults, at least the kids were free! But all in all its an amazing place, we spent most of the day here, and the kids loved it. I'd happily visit again. Ps the scones were amazing!.

Laura McClure — Google review

Very nice museum, walking distance from Lime Street railway station.Extra like: they have a little wildflower meadow to help pollinators. The planetarium wasn't open due to a technical problem, but the rest was great. Each storey has a different theme: space and time, dinosaurs and prehistoric life, ancient Egypt and mummies, an aquarium, and one level was having a temporary exhibition about ancient Greek mythology that we didn't visit. The cafe was great, nice kids' menu, I tried the scouse which was good, the gift shop was amazing, the bathrooms were clean.

Katalin Faludi (Kati) — Google review

This museum amazed me it is free to enter and explore , they just ask for a donation if possible . There is so much to see over five floors . They have the most mummies I have ever seen and the natural history section is phenomenal, there is something amazing around every corner, I saw loads of children in awe of the dinosaur collection . And they have a wonderful look and touch section where again all the children and the adults all indulged themselves . They have a space section where you can actually pick up a piece of what too me was an incredibly heavy piece of meteorite. I loved the way the museum was laid out inside and it had access for everyone to all floors with lifts . Very well sign posted inside . The staff were very informative and very pleasant and patient considering how busy it was . The museum has a great shop and the stuff was reasonably priced .A wonderful , beautiful and fascinating place to visit . Go and enjoy the history and fascinating artifacts in this collection.

ann phillips — Google review

My friend and I took my eight year old son to this museum and we had a fantastic day. It was free to explore, the toilets were clean, and the exhibits were interesting for both adults and children alike. The poetry exhibit with the lights was particularly enjoyable to my son as well as the aquarium.

Bex — Google review

Great museum across several floors and free to enter. There is an aquarium and planetarium which you can book a slot for free at the desk on ground floor. There is a lot of replicas in the museum especially on the animal/dinosaur floor but family still always have a lovely time. There is also a cafe and gift shop on ground floor.

Holly Popiel — Google review

Went to the world museum today- free to enter and has five floors to explore! FromSpace on floor five which has a great displayOf space and time and a fab planetariumFloor four is Egyptian themed with greatMummy exhibitions and a picnic area soMuch to see and a nice restaurant and shopOn the ground floor, well worth getting here early !

Chris Banks — Google review

Very nice museum. Quite big and as lot of areas it has covered. From fossils of dinosaur, ancient fish, reptile, amphibians etc.One floor specifically for ancient Egypt. Few mummies, tools, ornaments, pottery etc.One floor has aquarium.Free entry!!The place also has got a cafe and sovereign shop.

Sandy — Google review

Great experience that’s absolutely free!!!Note to people who haven’t visited before the main entrance to the museum is on the left when facing the building, the library is on the right. The main steps at the front are no longer used. There are paid sections or tour’s available on the day at £3-£5 per person but there’s still plenty to do without paying. We managed to park outside the museum as it was not kids holidays, note when we used the pay and display machine, the chip & pin wasn’t working so we had to use cash.Lots more to do and see from here as well.

Fun & Games

Chester Racecourse is a world-famous horse racing venue that is still in operation. It is well-known for its traditional racing highlights during the 3 day May meeting, as well as its popular evening and Saturday races. If you're looking for an exciting day out, then Chester Racecourse is definitely the place to go!

First time visiting the city and it didn't disappoint!!! Was fortunate to visit over the Easter Holidays and the racecourse was the best place to top it all, free parking btw❤There was a food and drink festival happening in the racecourse so no horses during my visit, child and disability-persons friendly, I am definitely coming back. I can't stop talking about this place to my friends, on YouTube, Instagram because why not!! A total recommendation.

Louise Bikeri (SkyscraperKenya) — Google review

Came for the family fun day. Bit of a mess when trying to get in as the machine wasn't scanning people's tickets. This was at gate 8. Some staff seemed flustered but some were very good. First time here for anything like this or even watching the horse racing. Would definitely come again as we had lots of fun and my toddler enjoyed it. Happy with how they put out so many portable toilets. Never had to wait which is good. Parked really close and was cheap too.

charlene rigney — Google review

Went in the Tattersalls enclosure.Weather was a bit hit and miss, but hey, welcome to the North-West.Went home over £250 richer, so a good day was had by all.Drinks are a bit pricey, so moderated my consumption (yeah, right).Would deffo go again.

I have never been here before & it's not too far away from where I live, but what a great local discovery! We now plan to go here a couple of times in the year, and the atmosphere here is fun! What a great day out to the races. 🐎🐎🐎

Christine Jones — Google review

Fantastic time at the races, there are two dates left at the race corse for this season 31st September and 14th October last one, so everyone come and enjoy the racing and entertainment at chester it's brilliant.

Mark Dingley-shortt — Google review

Excellent day out at the racecourse . Weather was beautiful , staff were very nice .It was very entertaining throughout the day .However the food quality was terrible . I had bought a hot dog for £7.50 and it was awful ! I understand that it is expensive to rent a stall at the races , however the prices are not justified for the quality (or lack of) of the food . I recommend better food stalls .Drinks are rather pricey too , but it’s what is expected from events as such .Would definitely return again , really enjoyed my time .

Udom Deesamer — Google review

Always nice to walk around the racecourse as a way to the city centre. Admittedly not the most direct route but certainly one of the nicest. It’s amazing to see views of the bridge we always drive over from a different perspective, though I wonder what is missing from the empty bays on the side of the bridge! (Answers on a postcard please)

Steve Jones — Google review

I walk by this almost every day. I've never been inside, though. On race days, this place is lively and very cool. Lots of people and the place becomes very colorful.

My last racecourses to complete the set, I loved it special atmosphere, well organised and has a wow factor, had tickets in county longroom great viewing of the races and easy access to other bars, only negative was my wife asked for a passion fruit martini in the bar, the lady opened a can and served it in a plastic pint pot and only charged me £8, 😀 up there with the best tracks I've been to, not the best card runners wise, but great day will be back asap

The Beatles Story museum is an interactive exhibit that tells the story of the band from their beginnings in Liverpool to international fame and acclaim. The museum contains replicas of key locations in the band's history, including Abbey Road studios and the Cavern Club.

Brilliant museum, passes through the progression of The Beatles, from unknown Quarrymen to the Fab Four....Great music throughout the experience, with recreated rooms and sets etc..An audio set with head sets are given at the entrance, these are wiped down at the exit ready for reuse, personally, I used my own earphones. You will enjoy this trip through time especially if you've experienced the Beatles in your youth. At the end there is a 60s style coffee shop selling refreshments and offering restrooms.Recommended, enjoy.

Trevor Baigent — Google review

It’s so cute and informative. A great story of the greatest musical band ever. You can spend there more than 2 hours if you will listen to all stories on your media guide. And they have lot of languages! If you like their music this a definitely place for you. But the price is too heavy for the museum. It’s £18

Nikita Nakonechnyi — Google review

If you're from any generation chances are you know more than one of their songs, but if you were a teenager in the 60's they're a large part of the soundtrack of your youth, and thus never forgotten. No matter who you are this is likely the one place in Liverpool you absolutely must visit. Loved every minute of the self guided tour of memorable photos and exhibits. The digital AV support is excellent and best of all it's at your own pace. MOST EXCELLENT!

Thomas Eblen — Google review

If you're a Beatles fan this place is Nirvana! A must-visit just to soak in how Beatlemania was back then. Even if you're not a fan, this place will still be worth the trip. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The wonderful lady who works in the gift shop, she deserves a raise!

Immy Malik — Google review

Very good. Lots of interesting stuff. Especially with the digital assistant. Well thought out exhibits. Quite remarkable recreation of the Cavern Club and story of the time. Well worth a visit if you are keen on the Beatles and their story. Nice cup of tea at the end.

adrian brown — Google review

Booked online. Arrived early and the staff were very accommodating and let us in.Loved the layout. Spent about 90 minutes which was enough time. The location is easy to find.If you're a Beatles fan or interested in how they came together and the vans rise & eventual break up, well worth a visit.

Pradeep — Google review

Only a small museum but it's got some good exhibits that belonged to the Beatles, guitars and whatnot. Only complaint is that since they introduced audio guides, people tend to stand round blocking the rooms, oblivious to anyone around them. Would be better to get rid of them.

D T — Google review

Accessibility is good. lift access and wheel chairs to use whilst in the exhibition, carer goes free. Don't miss out the children's area on leaving, fab karaoke and dress up section!A few empty spaces where pictures should be in the John & yoko section, the audio description was mixed up, not in line with the lay out or what is displayed. It's a good experience if you don't know much Beatles history. The shop is Amazing!Best variety in one place.

Sarah Suggitt — Google review

Neither of us are great Beatles fans. It was just something we thought we should go and see on a rainy day in Liverpool. It started off well as I am 61 and have a Blue Light Card, so double discount (£19 reduced to £12).The entry fee for my partner was £19.Both entries come with headsets, and to be honest, they worked very well, providing clear information in many languages with an option to pause, rewind, or skip as necessary. You can also adjust the volume of the headset. The tour took us about 1:30hrs to get around. It could take longer if you choose to read information in each of the sections. There is a cafe and shop selling beatles memorabilia at the end of the tour. The staff we had interaction with were very friendly and helpful. For me, it was worth the £12 entry fee. My partner didn't think it was value for money at £19.

Terry Hooper — Google review

Great interactive museum. You get a headset to go around with and hear the multifaceted stories of how the beatles came to fame and their journey as a band. Great sets to poke around and plenty to see. Keeps you well entertained for a couple of hours. There's also a little cafe, loos and a great little shop attatched.

Alex Freckleton — Google review

Considering this exhibit/museum has been in existence 30yrs we felt it wasn’t as good as it should be. I understand official Beetles memorabilia is expensive but I felt it should of had more of the real deal. The walking guides/headset is a good idea in principle and it does save them money by not having individual guides walking around spitting out the same stuff over & over, however we felt they didn’t always run in order with the exhibits. For the money I guess it’s worth it but I don’t see it as something you would re-visit.The Cavern re-creation is quite cool, but then you may as well just go to the Cavern! Also, if you’re not too great on your feet it does go on for quite a while, there are places to sit in the Cavern section which is about 25-35 mins in, and again about an hour in when there are aeroplane seats, then again about another 15 mins later when you reach sections on the beetles as individuals.A top tip would be to find out when the least busy times are and go then. I suspect first thing in the morning mid-week. The reason I say this is because it gets quite congested meaning you can’t see and read the displays properly.

Gareth Taylor — Google review

You can easily spend 2 or 3 hours in this place. It give real detailed info about the Beatles from their very, beginning until the breakup. There are sections dedicated to each member and what happened to them after the breakup. They have constructed decor and nice places to sit and listen to parts of the tour here and there.Totally recommend it 😊

Yasmeen Shabana — Google review

We went inside mainly because my girlfriend wanted it badly so here we went.To be honest wasn't expecting to be as awesome as it was. Very well organised, curated and explained throughout via a audio tour.It spans from before they were famous until well after they were not a band anymore. Enormous amount of memorabilia, videos, audios of them and people closely associated with them.In truth everything was excellent and well worth it. If you do know the whole story, if you are a true fan or even if you are mildly interested as I am, I promise you, you will love the experience!

paulo duarte — Google review

We weren't sure if the kids (ages 7 and 9) would engage with this but they loved it! Lots of interesting facts and the experience was enjoyed by all. You receive a headset to listen to each attraction as you go around with extra info to read along the way.

Suzie Weller — Google review

A must for anyone who has even a little interest in the fab four...it's basically a chronological walk through their careers. Lots of interesting info & good exhibits. At the exhibition you'll be given headphones and an audio/visual description to take around with you. We went on a Sunday and it wasn't heaving, was able to take our time, take some pics and enjoy the experience. Gift shop wasn't ridiculously priced either, which was a nice change to many others.

chris pogson — Google review

Great place to visit, multimedia tour, available in several different languages, lots of useful information, and a full story about the members of the band considered to be one of the icons of music. Over an hour's journey into the world of the Beatles.Unfortunately I do not have enough time to study all very carefully, but I will visit this place again, when I have more time.Highly recommended.

Wojciech Kozlowski — Google review

Plenty of unique Beatles exhibits, covers every aspect of the Quarry men to the split up of the group19 quid entrance fee... Good shop and cafeThere is a audio/video tour included with lots of information I wasn't aware of before..Would visit again

Derek Tweedie — Google review

I’d not recommend this place. Very few original memorabilia (mostly posters?) and not as complete as you’d expect for a museum like this. Audio guides are OK and included in the price but without them, the experience would be lacking. The visit takes between 1 and 1.5 hours. There is a small shop at the end

María Guillermina Véscovo — Google review

An awesome museum exploring the history of one of, if not the most, famous bands in history. There are plenty of items of memorabilia commemorating the band as well as items used by them and recreations of some of the sites they would have been to while in their prime. A must visit stop for fans of the band, or even if you have a bit of time while in Liverpool this is worth a visit.

Matthew Harwood — Google review

I am an American tourist and Beatles fan. We weren’t planning to go into this museum but decided to do it anyways because we were by the docks. It was fantastic! I highly recommend the audio tour. It was full of information that I didn’t know, and focused a lot on the early years of the Beatles when they were in Liverpool and the people around the Beatles that helped them to be so successful like Epstein.

Carl from Chicago — Google review

We had the opportunity to visit The Beatles Story Liverpool, and it was truly incredible. Not only did we get to see amazing exhibits, but we also got a glimpse into the lives of The Beatles before they became famous. It was a remarkable experience filled with rich music history.

Maritime museum

Museums

Liverpool's maritime museum is a must-see for history buffs that takes you on an evocative journey through the citys rich maritime history. From shipwrecks to uniforms and artefacts, the museum has it all from Liverpools pivotal role in the Atlantic Battle during World War II to its involvement in the transatlantic slave trade.

A large museum which I only allocated half a day for. I could easily have spent longer than that here, especially on the International Slavery Museum floor alone. Good that this city acknowledges its part in this awful trade. Other highlights were seeing some items retrieved from the Titanic wreck & ‘Seized!’ - the HMRC section.

Toxteth O' Grady — Google review

Free to enter but recommended donation of £5 (no pressure to donate though). Big museum with loads to see over 3 floors. Customs and Excise exhibit really interesting. Cafe was a bit rubbish - no menus anywhere and staff not particularly forthcoming but went to a food van outside the museum instead and then back in once we'd eaten. A few interactive things to do if you have kids. A good day out

Lindsey Johnson — Google review

Free entry (donation boxes are dotted around). No need to book in advance.Really interesting museum about Liverpool's maritime history, including information on the Titanic and the Lusitania.Accessibility - lifts, disabled toilets

Rebecca Harvey — Google review

Titanic exhibition at the Liverpool Maritime Museum proved to be a profoundly moving and informative experience. This exhibition is a must-visit for anyone interested in the history and legacy of the iconic ship.As soon as I entered the exhibition, I was greeted by a sense of reverence and respect for the Titanic's story. The museum has done an exceptional job of creating an immersive environment that allows visitors to delve into the tragic events surrounding the ship's ill-fated maiden voyage. The exhibition provides a comprehensive and insightful look into the construction, launch, and eventual sinking of the Titanic. The displays feature a remarkable collection of artifacts, including personal belongings of passengers, items recovered from the wreckage, and detailed replicas of sections of the ship. These artifacts serve as powerful reminders of the human stories connected to the Titanic. One aspect that sets this exhibition apart is its focus on Liverpool's connection to the Titanic. As the city where the Titanic was registered and set sail on its ill-fated voyage, Liverpool played a significant role in the ship's history. The exhibition delves into this connection, highlighting the city's contributions to the ship's construction and the impact of the tragedy on the local community. The exhibition provides a wealth of information about the passengers and crew members aboard the Titanic. Through interactive displays, visitors can explore the different classes of accommodations and learn about the lives of those who were on board. The attention to detail and the depth of research are truly commendable. One of the most poignant moments of the exhibition is the memorial wall that lists the names of all those who perished in the Titanic disaster. It serves as a reminder of the human cost of this tragedy and allows visitors to pay their respects to the victims. The museum's audio guide is a valuable companion throughout the exhibition. It provides insightful commentary, personal stories, and interviews, further enriching the visitor's understanding of the events surrounding the Titanic. The staff at the Liverpool Maritime Museum were friendly, helpful, and clearly passionate about the subject matter. They were more than willing to answer questions and provide additional information, enhancing the overall experience.

The Museum of Liverpool is a local history museum that tells the story of Liverpool from its earliest days to the present day. It features interactive displays on city's heritage and hosts regular special exhibitions. The Museum of Liverpool is open daily from 10am to 5pm, and admission is free for all visitors.

This place was great. Well worth spending some hours looking at all the exhibits and learning more about what puts Liverpool on the map. There were lots of hands on exhibits to keep children's interest and pretty incredible to say it was free. On a nice day the whole area is fantastic for a wander about.

This modern museum is well worth a visit. The exhibition spaces are light and airy and display cases carefully arranged and informative. There is a wealth of detail on the city starting from prehistoric times right up to present day.Allow about 2 hours for a visit with children. Interactive screens etc are dotted throughout the museum but sadly several were not working on our visit. There is little to keep really young children engaged. There is a good value cafe and lots of toilets available.

This is a museum lover's paradise. We had an amazing day out and the exhibits were very informative and interesting. Definitely recommended if you are someone who loves spending your time in museum visits

Shilna Mathew — Google review

This is a fascinating place. It explains the history of Liverpool brilliantly and made for a great day. The place itself is situated right in the heart of Liverpool docks, which is absolutely stunning. I was also thrilled to see that it was free entry, and the staff were polite and gracious. I would definitely come back here.

John — Google review

Overall a solid museum and especially with it being free! Excellent exhibits all around although too many kids for me ha! My caveat is the poor directions to get around exhibits. Case in point: entering the 1st floor one faces the Viking history section… and yet the earliest ancestors history is to the left of that. Why are there no signs indicating to start to the left?? It was like this all over many of the larger exhibit halls.

Jennifer Smith — Google review

There is a floor that shows how Liverpool has been evolving in UK's history and the importance of Liverpool. There is a room full of entertainment especially about Beatles. At some audio seats and the karaoke room, you can play and listen to music/songs. The museum's location is by the dock side, so before or after visiting the museum you always get a chance to walk along the dock.

Gordon Choi — Google review

Great building but not sure if it is designed abundantly well. I imagine other museums places etc have a lot of other great pieces but some things felt sparse. Where is unless I missed it the Everton/Liverpool story, once great friends now rivals. Interesting pieces throughout but I lost the sense of how Liverpool changed over the years. Go to the recording studio though that was fun.

Peter Robinson — Google review

I love this museum! Three floors of displays, so many things to view and interact with, displays which can be viewed with all six senses! There are interactive displays, displays you can smell, displays you can feel, displays you can see and hear… and so much more. I’ve been here a few times, multiple times when I was younger and more recently last week when I visited Liverpool for my birthday. This museum is great for all age ranges, the displays never get old! On the top floor there is also a glass window where you can get an amazing view of Liverpool, perfect for tourists - I have attached a picture of this view! Would definitely recommend!

Serah Egerton — Google review

The museums in Liverpool are free and all are well worth a visit, there is a lot of Liverpools history, very modern feel to it and there is always something new to see, there is a souvenir shop and a nice cafe there too, staff are always helpful, lifts and excellent toilet facilities, highly recommend

keith ball — Google review

Wonderful place to visit. Totally free & educational. Accessible toilets & lifts. Cafe on site. Parking terrible. We parked at Albert Dock & walked over. Lots to see & do nearby also!

Deb — Google review

Massive museum, overlooking the sea and parks near it. It has lots of history displayed in it. Clean interior as well. Never miss this opportunity to visit this place when you go to Liverpool.

Jamie Marie — Google review

I truly enjoyed my visit of the museum. The presentation was very well done. I would recommend it to anyone. The added bonus is the top floor at the viewing gallery. You can get a stunning birds-eye view of the city.Free to enter with the optional £5 donation.

Poom Settha — Google review

This is a lovely museum filled with local history and has such a nice chilled out vibe to the place. The place was clean, spacious and packed full of interesting exhibits on display. You get a real sense of the pride of the area and you begin to understand the contribution to the uk that Liverpool and it’s people have made and continue to make.We will be back as we didn’t see everything!

The River Dee in Wales is a prime location for Grayling fishing, considered by some to be the best in the country. Both dry flies and nymphs are effective depending on weather conditions. The picturesque scenery adds to the experience. In Chester, the river serves as a recreational spot for activities such as pleasure boat rides, jogging, and leisurely walks while enjoying beautiful views from its bridges. It's also an excellent location for capturing memorable moments throughout different seasons.

Lovely city and great weather to boot.

Love a walk along the dee in Chester City centre so lovely and peaceful plenty of places to sit and relax 😌

The River Dee in Chester is a recreational place of pleasure boat rides, walking , jog or just leisurely stroll aimlessly , crossing the bridges to get to either side of the river. Other then that , it’s a place to catch those beautiful moments whatever the time of day and in different seasons

Tollets TalesAndTrails — Google review

Always good to visit the Dee and walk alongside it on sunny days. Chester has a great atmosphere with plenty of walks , good food and places to drink.

This river is amazing for kayaking. There are tough rapid sections as well as some easier sections. I would highly recommend this river for both newer kayaker as well as more experianced kayaker.

Jack Perchick — Google review

A lovely place to take a walk along the river. Quite and Serene. Somewhere to sit and take in the amazing view. A must visit location in the Chester city.

Diksha Chaudhary — Google review

My husband and I walk down the river with our dogs quite regularly. It's beautiful. We start on the Meadows in Chester and walk for 6 miles along the river to a pub called the Grosvenor in Aldford. The path is well trodden and easy to follow. It can get a little muddy in places after a lot of rainfall but for the most part it's a nice easy walk. We sometimes start the walk in ecclestome at the car park that is right on the river as that is a much shorter walk. We see a lot of wonderful wildlife, birds of prey, deer and stag on the Duke's property, herons, commerants and all manner of other lovely nature.

Tori Byrne — Google review

This is a medium sized river that mainly flows in one direction only! Throwing sticks in here is a convenient method of removing fox poo from dogs. It's the ideal place to visit if you like rivers.

I take my dog every Sunday for a walk down the River Dee outstanding doesn't matter if is raining or sun's out it's calm and peaceful and lot of history around the area around the area

Robert Vetters Jnr — Google review

River Dee in Wales, Excellent Grayling fishing when conditions are right, would go as far to say that it could possibly be the best Grayling water in the country ! Either dry flies or nymphs take fish here (depending on weather), makes for a fantastic day or two, and with glorious scenery it never dissapoints.

Park Hall Countryside Experience, located in Whittington near Oswestry, offers a wide range of activities for visitors. From indoor and outdoor play areas to friendly farm animals, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The attraction also boasts four museums, tractor rides, and various driving activities catered towards children. Visitors can expect a smooth organization process when booking events such as birthday parties, with well-decorated party rooms and timely food service.

Brilliant day here at Park Hall. My 5 year old loved it and has on the way home if we can go again. Plenty to do and see, good entertainment and the parks are brilliant and so too are the animals. Brilliant day A*

It is amazing. Took 2 children of 5 and 9. Spent whole day. So much to do and see. It has a cafe but you can take your picnic and collect from the car when you want it. Free car parking.. wear wellingtons if its wet. Excellent day out and fabulous value.

Claire Scott — Google review

Excellent, well priced day out for the whole family. We booked for the afternoon, but would probably choose the whole day next time, because there's so much to do!

Catherine Occhini — Google review

We had such a fantastic day here. Plenty of fun for the children. If you're looking to tire the children out then this is the perfect place to visit without breaking the bank balance. The layout was easy to follow, the staff were extremely friendly, the cafe serves reasonably priced food and drinks which are enjoyable with a great choice, tractor rides, farm animals to see, you can get close and stroke the lambs.. the list is endless.

Percy Francis — Google review

We booked a party for my daughter and everyone had such a wonderful time. The staff were all so lovely and they supplied happy birthday bunting and some balloons, which I didn’t expect! We cannot thank all involved enough and the children had an absolutely cracking time. There’s so much to explore there and each time we visit, we discover something new.Absolutely worthwhile and we can’t wait for our next visit!

Hayley Edwards — Google review

It’s very good value for money, the children absolutely loved it here and we had an absolutely amazing day too. So much so we have booked for Christmas. We spent 6 hours here and my children still didn’t want to leave (5&7)

H S — Google review

Our four year old daughter throughly enjoyed Park Hall. There is plenty to do despite the relative small size compared to other attractions. Soft play areas; sensory areas; outdoor playgrounds; tractor rides; barrel rides and of course, the pig races and other animals to see. The food is reasonable too on prices. If you are looking for a day out at a very reasonable price (just over £40 for two paying adults and a child), I would recommend paying a visit.

Rob Randell — Google review

So much to do, the kids love it. Plenty of activities for all ages/abilities. They do themed weeks to add to variation, so it doesn't become boring/repetitive. Maize mave, seasonal attraction, is a good addition. Plenty of play areas, inside and out. Tractor ride included in the price. Only £1 for a decent sized bag of feed. Good value for money.

Stephanie — Google review

We had my 3 year olds birthday party here on Saturday and it was the best day from start to finish! Organising it went so smoothly and the party room was decorated wonderfully. Food all came out on time and was so easy to sort. The weather wasn’t on our side but that didn’t dampen anyone spirits as there is just so much to do to keep everyone entertained. We were the first ones in and the last ones out :) I could not have been happier with how the day went! Thank you Park Hall Farm for helping me create such amazing memories :)

Awesome day hike, spectacular views! The trail is not marked clearly (atleast for our American experience). One access is from the Bog visitor centre. After you park the car, look for the viewpoint sign, and go up. Once you get to the stones, the climbing and views - miles of grasslands, blue sky - make it all well worth it. We went in Feb, the wind was strong, and it was fairly cold. Grab warm layers, and a beanie. As you trample along, remember that you are walking on stones 500 million old!

Mini Rag — Google review

Yeah it was ok. Lots of people said it was a great place to visit. It had great views but that was really it. I may visit again in a years time but I wouldn't rush back.

Mitchell Curnick (Soleks) — Google review

Superb craftsmanship and a lot of attention to detail. The natural finish is excellent and it is almost impossible to tell this is manmade.

Charles Perry — Google review

This is a great place to walk with some iconic views and landmark rocks to spot along the ridge. The notable rocks are Cranberry, Manstone, Devil's Rock and Shepherd's Rock, as well as the Castle Ring hillfort towards the northern end of the ridge. Pathways lead from the parking areas up to the top. Parking is available at The Bog Visitor Centre and at Snailbeach.

David Booth — Google review

One of the wonders of Shropshire. The views stunning, the air clean, wildlife everywhere and quiet simply a beautiful peaceful place. The path to the trig is ankle breaking shattered rock but worth every step. In good or bad weather and I’ve done both it’s gorgeous. I do a figure of 8 loop from the car park up to Stiperstones and Devil’s chair down to Snailbeach via the squatter cottages and back up and over to the car park. It’s stunning. Just stunning. While the car park gets full you hardly see a soul.

A great day for a stride out with warm sun and a slight breeze. Conditions also good for the Red Kites to spiral arround the uppermost rocks.I also saw a common Lizzzard who had been basking on a railway sleeper step near green hill. He scurried into the heather on my approach. There is a memorial plaque to a fallen Whittley bomber crew from 2nd WW at the bottom of the hill. Its worth a visit just to walk in a different kind of landscape ! We had good views all round !

Lovely walk around the hill fort! Lots of information provided on various boards around the site. Nice gentle walk, took around 30 mins. Beautiful panoramic views into Wales.

andrew coxill — Google review

One of the largest hill forts in england. Hard to reach here by public transport either have to travel by bike or car here. Small limited car park next to road of around 5 car spaces but usually not a lot of visitors. You have to climb the stakes for 5minutes to reach the top then walk around it takes around 30 minutes. Some information boards in the site.

Anthony Chan — Google review

What really amazed me about this hill fort is the near perfection with which the earthworks have been preserved. If ever you've looked at a hill, been told it used to be a hill fort, and then had to try to squint and imagine how that's the case, this is the hill to show you how they actually looked - this is the first/best example to use when learning about what that means. It's so striking even at ground level, but make sure to have a look at some aerial photography, too, to really appreciate it. It's a nice, easy walk around (and/or through the middle of) the hill fort, with some nice views on all sides. The car park is really quite small, however.

Mitsh'au'nuruodo — Google review

A large historic hill with accessible path to walk around, great for exercise, dog walking and views of countryside surrounding Shropshire. There is a small parking spot at the main entrance gate (enough for ~4-5 cars), can get busy when weather is good. The hill is actively used as grazing/farmland by local farmer for sheep (gates to be kept closed!). Information display boards can be found here, for both the associated history (was once was an iron-age hill fort, today is one of the best preserved examples) and nature (e.g. local birds). A narrow country lane connects to Oswestry, in about/less than 1 minute.

Harry Phillips — Google review

English heritage site. Short walk up a slightly steep path. Not good for people with mobility issues. In keeping with the ancient site though which is good. Nicely made I noticed. Informative informatics. Lovely views from the top and lots of wild plants. They have also introduced an Iron Age sheep breed to part of the site. They don’t seem at all bothered by people. You can walk to this site really easily from Oswestry. We took a lovely route past Gatacre playing field and through a field of maize. There is a very small amount of parking there though.

Paula Love — Google review

A jewel in the crown, both an important archaeological site and an amenity for walkers. At this time of year the foxgloves are in bloom, and skylarks can be heard. I note the grazing sheep have now been moved to the side of the hill fort away from the entrance. Dogs can run free on the 'non sheep' side only.

Justine Jones — Google review

A nice wander round to see the history in the area, nice views, and some lovely goats to keep me company. Best on a clear day as not much to see. Wats dyke is the old dyke that used to run between old Oswestry along side offa dykes the more popular and longer routes.

Small urban park, compared to other parks I have been too. Quite basic green area, more of an open space with toilets and children's play ground. A pleasant little walk. The Ruthin Craft Centre, also known as the Centre for the Applied Arts, is a purpose-built gallery that showcases a variety of exhibits and offers workshops and family-friendly activities. From the moment you step inside, you'll be surrounded by imaginative design and boundless creativity. Although there may have been some closures during our visit, there was still plenty to see and enjoy within this vibrant space. Overall, we highly recommend visiting this art gallery for a unique and inspiring experience.

I had wanted to visit for years then found myself in the area and had such a wonderful time looking at the exhibitions, browsing the shop and also enjoying the cafe too!

Sam Brundish — Google review

A welcoming, well curated and beautifully place to visit. The building allows for a handful of different exhibitions, definitely worth a visit. The smaller studios are home to local, independent businesses and artists. There is also a Costa coffee located inside if you need a coffee and cake fix

From the time you enter its gates, the craft centre lives up to its name. Imaginative design and creativity can be found at every turn. The restaurant was closed for refurbishment at our visit, and one or two units, due to mid-week maybe, but still we spent over an hour with things to see and enjoy.Highly recommend.

This is a very high quality craft centre with regular exhibitions of amazing creative work. The staff were brilliant, with a staff member taking the silver beaker out of a cabinet so that I could get a picture.I didn't buy it, but wish I could.

Ruthin is one of these towns often overlooked or driven through but not often a stopping point. Whenever we do stop the craft centre is always a go-to place because of the easy parking and cafe, and of course the gallery there. With artwork on display, from a few points to many thousands, it’s great to see the creativity of local artists.Well worth a stop if your passing through or spend a few hours there having a walk around the town too.

Castle

A historic castle located in Powis, Wales, now under the care of National Trust offers visitors a glimpse into early modern architecture and art. Built by Welsh prince Gruffydd ap Gwenwynwyn in the 13th century, the castle underwent a major renovation into Renaissance style during the 17th century. Visitors can explore an impressive collection of artworks and artefacts that include Italian busts from the Seventeenth Century and a Bellotto masterpiece.

One of my favourite National Trust properties. The gardens are amazing, the views are incredible and the castle history is fascinating. It is nice to go again and again and watch how the gardens change over the seasons. Had a lovely jam and cream scone sat in the sunny courtyard. I always find that the staff are very friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit.

Mark Robert — Google review

Brilliant Day out with lots to see. This is especially good if you are a National Trust member otherwise you will have to pay the entry costs. The Gardens are the main attraction especially on a dry day. However there are lots more to see in the castle so also a good day out if it's raining

Joe Upsall — Google review

I just loved this place. It's beautiful and large area if you like walks. Castle looks stunning when you get down on the grounds. Well view from castle is equally gorgeous too.May need more benches added as it's such a huge area that people do get tired and keep looking to seat somewhere. I saw many elderly people at some places waiting to seat.I saw people eating picnics so I think its allowed to have a picnic. Specially on the bigger ground you can just seat and relax and have your time. There are picnic benches before entering the castle. Pictures are added.

S S — Google review

If you are in Central Wales then I would recommend a visit. The castle is historically interesting with some superb views across the valley. However, the icing on the cake is the garden which is magnificent. If you like topiary then the main hedges are something to behold and the rose gardens are glorious. Thoroughly recommended.

Picked the perfect day weather-wise, a beautifully crisp winter’s day which made for the perfect photo opportunities for such a lovely National Trust site. The tour guides were great and very knowledgeable taking us around the house pointing out fascinating little details in every room and hall.Highly recommended for the house and for its beautiful grounds 😊

Fantastic castle and grounds. Great place to spend a few hours. Came for Easter egg-hunt and trail. Volunteers very helpful and informative. Loved the gardens , beautiful flowers and sculpted hedges and trees. Lots of different areas to explore.

Visited here during half term, they had a pumpkin trail around the garden. Plenty of fun/scary Halloween surprises around the trail. Went in the castle which was very nice. Yes,it is kept quite dark but that's to protect all the wonderful fabrics/tapestries and artwork. So many rooms you can go in really gives a scale of the building. Enjoyed our visit.

Philippa Millard — Google review

The most beautiful well cared for garden we have see in Wales. Highly unusual mix of specimen plants. Fabulous borders. Important plants labeled. The living quarter murals everywhere were stunning. Loved Mary Queen of Scott's rosary and the carriage.

Robin Fischer — Google review

Magnificent! Such a great experience visiting Powis Castle. We went there in the afternoon, so we missed the last entry to the castle itself as it closed at 15:30. But the staff were so kind and helpful to allow us to visit the Museum. The garden is so beautiful and well maintained. They have EV and accessible parking areas. Whilst wheelchair users are not able to access the castle due to its steps, they can definitely access the whole garden. If you're lucky, you can also see deers and lambs.Definitely recommend this to all our families and friends.

Erny Feberina — Google review

Just wow! The gardens are immaculate! One of the best we've seen. We arrived at 10am Saturday, spent over two hours here exploring. We spent 15mins in the castle, far too crowded and dark. There's plenty of parking at the rear of the castle, it's a one way in and out of the estate and very helpful parking staff to ensure spaces maximised. You show your membership card or pay at the welcome 'hut' by the car park then just show receipts to enter. There are quite a few slopes and steps to contend with so bear that in mind. There are two cafes, one just inside the castle courtyard on the left with some outdoor seating. Or head down to the very bottom of the garden and find another there, with toilets. You're likely to be joined by one of the resident peaco*cks on the lookout for crumbs! There's also a really well equipped playing field at the bottom right of the gardens, with various sports equipment for kids to play with their families. It was very well used and ensures kids had something to do while adults could enjoy the gardens.

Cool! nice castle, a very well-kept garden that takes you back to times that rejuvenate your spirit and body, the location in the nature center makes this place simply great. Underneath the castle is a place where you can play various games with your family. 16:30 closing time, I recommend it

Another fantastic National Trust site worth visiting, especially if you are in central Wales. The castle and gardens are well maintained with beautiful topiary and hedges. We visited on a moderately sunny day, which certainly helps in appreciating the beauty of the site a little more. The Castle itself has a lot of artifacts and the tour is worth your time, however you cannot take pictures inside the castle.

Excellent place to visit with large gardens, a castle and museum to enjoy. The views over the valley are stunning (we were very lucky with some brilliant weather) and the plants that were starting to bloom were excellent (if you are interested in gardens). The route to the fountain at the lower tier of the garden is via steps or a flat path, so accessible for all. Seeing everything definitely got our 10k steps in.

This is an absolutely fantastic place, The architecture, the beauty of the place and the gardens are absolutely stunning. The size of the place! It's huge and the grounds are extensive! We had an amazing day at a very reasonable price. The only downside was that we ate in the main cafe which was a very big disappointment. The food had to be sent back several times and they'd even missed bringing us another dish. (That wasn't to dampen the beauty of the place though.

Fabulous castle with stunning gardens. Spent a lovely few sunny hours strolling around the gardens before enetering the castle. Was impressed with how much of the castle there is to see. The volunteers were friendly with lots of interesting nuggets of information also. Would highly recommend a visit here.

Hannah Shackleton — Google review

Amazing paints and a marble table I'd loved to have grabbed back home. The car park, free, is big but could be more effective if monitored as most of guests would park either in the middle or too far from other cars.2 museums and 1 amazing garden, if lucky, guided by talkative peaco*cks.

Mathieu Choux — Google review

What a beautiful place to come and see. Although it was quite cloudy and drizzly, the views were still stunning. The gardens are the best kept I have ever seen at a NT property. Faultless, beautiful, lush, colourful, clean, and weed free. Total respect and thanks for the team of gardeners that must work tirelessly to keep the gardens in such outstanding conditions.Inside the castle, you are not permitted to take photos. The rooms are quite dark, but there is so much to protect from the sunlight. The painted walls and ceilings are breathtaking. There was so much to look at, and the volunteers were very knowledgeable when questions were asked.I could write so much more, but honestly, you just need to visit to see for yourself!

Beautiful castle and Stunning gardens set within a magnificent landscape. The gardens I found particularly impressive, especially the yew topiary. The guides and staff were great-friendly,approachable and helpful.Plenty of parking with an uphill walk to get to the property. Many thanks for a lovely day.

One of the best, if not the best National Trust gardens we have visited. We had a glorious day, weather was great and we could take our dogs around the extensive gardens on leads which was great. Plenty of parking and picnic areas plus good facilities and café. The castle visit was interesting however the gardens and landscape was simply the best. So impressive and only 7 full time gardeners, amazing job.

Lisa Rollins — Google review

Another lovely National Trust site, with the most amazing gardens! The work that must go into the garden maintenance is amazing, they are absolutely stunning. We visited in the autumn, just as the trees were changing colour - would highly recommend this time of year for those interested in photography.Very clearly signposted, and ample parking available. All the staff we spoke to were helpful and happy.Dog friendly site, which is always a bonus! Just be mindful that there are peaco*cks and peahens wandering around the grounds and courtyard areas.Lovely cafe on site, with a smaller tearoom available on the walk around the garden. Will definitely be returning!

Niki Culkin — Google review

Beautiful setting. The weather helped. Guides I room very engaging if you take time to talk to them. Makes visit so much more enjoyable when you know the history. Hopeful we will go back again someday. We were told May is a good time to go as flower displays in gardens at their best.

Kathryn Hamling — Google review

National Trust Castle with a fabulous house with ornate carpentry and pictures everywhere. We went in mid January so not many flowers in the huge grounds so we will have to return in the summer.Nice cafe reasonably priced and knowledgeable guides in most rooms that shared interesting facts about the history of the artifacts in each room.

John Levell — Google review

A truly amazing day out, you could spend hours here, from the lovely kept gardens to the internal tour of the castle. You can't take photos on the inside tour but some of the rooms are really amazing the intricate details of the art and rooms is just truly amazing. The museum at the end showing all the armaments and memorial items is awesome. The roaming peaco*cks were brill. A brilliant piece of national trust land. The volunteers were so polite and knowledgeable on the tour

Tom Jackson — Google review

Beautiful castle and a great day out for all. The inside of the castle is beautiful and the paintings are like masterpieces. There is also a nice cafe and large gardens where deer are roaming.I would have liked to have taken some pictures inside the castle but unfortunately you are not allowed to take pictures. All in all a great place to visit.

G Moss — Google review

Absolutely beautiful location, peaco*cks in the courtyard that were happy for you to get close to take photographs. We counted about 6 or 7 of them, male and female. The castle gardens were absolutely stunning! There were red deer roaming the grounds. We had the guided tour of the building itself. The guides were very well presented with great people skills and were extremely knowledgeable about the history of powys Castle. Incredible paintings in most of the rooms and the grand staircase (not able to climb the stairs for safety reasons). But we visited both the bottom and the top of the stairway. Back to the paintings, each room tells a story, lots and lots of paintings of God's and legends. Very very interesting place with stunning artwork and craftsmanship everywhere you look. Highly recommended place to visit

Lovely castle lot's of rooms to see all well furnished, some a little dim but you have to understand that it's to preserve the fabrics from sunlight, beautiful gardens to walk around with lovely views

These castle ruins, built by the Normans on the English/Welsh border, date from the 11th century.

An absolutely wonderful castle ruin. Impressive and incredibly atmospheric, I loved every second. There's plenty of well written information boards providing great background and fascinating stories. The views are wonderful over the very cute town of Montgomery. A great place for kids to run around and explore too - brilliant fuel for the imagination.

Gregory Smith — Google review

Beautiful castle.Free car parking at the bottom of the castle so easy to get to.Beautiful views, dog friendly, good for kids etc.Took around 1 hour with taking our time. Local public toilets in the town hall, Spar shop local and fish and chip shop.Worth the visit if your local or passing, beautiful photo opportunities.

Holly Preece — Google review

Well worth a visit. Interesting history with excellent story boards explaining the role the castle played in the middle ages. Grounds are very well maintained. Quite a steep walk up the well surfaced path from the town but worth it for the wonderful views over Montgomery and the surrounding countryside.

DP — Google review

These castle ruins are quite interesting to see. Information and brief history is provided throughout the castle grounds also. There is a small car park at the entrance with signs leading to the bridge of the castle. It is a lovely walk around the grounds, with benches available for you to sit and take in the beautiful Shropshire scenery.

Gemma S — Google review

Great heritage preserved, with boards that explains it's fabulous history. Fantastic views from here too. Free to enter.

Interesting 🧐 place to visit with a great views , castle itself is almost destroyed.Place is very clean. Average spending time is around 45 min.

Ilya — Google review

Just amazing views, nice little walk on a very sunny day , a wonderful start of our holiday in the area! The entry is a free. The ruin has a double moat ( dry now) a good educational place for anyone of school age or interest in history or defence tactics for that era. Nice , tidy , well maintained grounds. Thank you for making our day magical

Visited in summer 2020, when I had my Shropshire vacation. We can park near the castle, but we have to find the narrow road lead up to the hill. Because I didn't find it, I parked in the village at the bottom of the hill and walked up, it wasn't the easiest. At the ruins there is no toilet or cafe, so please be prepared for this, however, there are plenty cafes, restaurant, tea room in the village. Nice history of ruins, easy to walk around, few information plate and 1 bench. Nice view and beauty spot, but not recommended to wheelchair users or baby buggies.

Evalynn B. — Google review

Extensive remains from a medieval castle that was built to protect the surrounding area for the English, lots of area for a good walk around and explore. Gives great views of the surrounding countryside. Small car park next to it and a 100 meter walk to the castle, it is accessed from a steep country lane.

Darren Barton — Google review

Lovely place to visit for Free.Great views over Shropshire.Information boards.Castle car park instructions vague, and up narrow streets, but its perfect parking for those who cant walk up a steep hill from the town.

Samantha Kettle — Google review

Interesting ruin doesn’t take to long to walk round. No entrance or parking fee just drive up the hill and park. Short walk from the small car park.

Denise Beddoe — Google review

Castle ruins with great views. There’s enough of the ruins left that you can get a feel for what it was like, while still keeping the magical castle ruins feel. I wish the signs had given a bit more detail on how the castle was built, but they did provide some interesting stories, including one about how a former owner gave the most outrageous and clearly untrue excuse for how he ‘accidentally’ sent a chunk of rock flying into the head of someone when he was putting on a cloak.

Sam Rice-Wright — Google review

I'm terrified of heights so I found everything about this a challenge! Once I was in the castle though it was beautiful and so peaceful too!If you are afraid of heights please be aware it's very steep roads to get upto the carpark. The path to the castle one side is a really high drop and their are a couple of bridges to get across to the castle too... you can see through the bridges and although not as high as other parts you are still quite high!

Love shopping here, various clothing brand's under one roof. Lovely butchers here and a coffee shop. Plenty of parking space outside, there is a lift inside to get to the upper floor if you can't manage the stairs.

50,000 square feet with a great selection of clothing and home goods. The items on sale were good quality and pricing was on par to similar storesTested both the cafe and downstairs restaurant the food was good and the staff polite and helpful. There's a small farm shop which is more of a deli but sells a wide variety of items from tea and coffee confectionery as well as alcohol and baked goods.Toilets were very clean. The car park had plenty of spaces. No it isn't just for the over 80s so ignore the daft reviews my daughter 30 was very happy with the choices on offer.Yes there was tweed on sale 😆

David Pimborough — Google review

Visited the Tweedmill, welcoming staff at the door. Lovely clean shopping experience. Popped In to see if I liked anything, but not for me today. Treated myself to coffee and panini. Generous amount of gooey cheese with a decent slice of ham. The staff was very helpful.

Lovely shopping place good selection of clothing from posh to everyday. Spent a long time here browsing, staff friendly and obliging. Bought 4 tops + 2 pairs of trousers, reasonably prices.

A really successful visit. A very helpful assistant. Managed to find three suits and a dress shirt in about fifteen minutes, but when we got to the checkout there were problems with the tills and cash machines which doubled our time there. They need some better IT support.

Stephen Studdart — Google review

Good staff.Clothes a little expensive.Food lovely.Needs to be a little more modern in their fashion.Feels like all the companies send stock out of date are sent there. But not at lower prices. The staff are lovely.Needs huge modernisation in both what they sell and pricing.Still go again.

Gwyn Penny — Google review

Tweedmill itself and the concession in it cannot be faulted - Pavers, Cotton Traders, etc. are all good.My main issue is with the Café. Paid £13.95 each for 2 plates of Scampi and chips. In return got 7 (count 'em - SEVEN) pieces of Scampi, a portion (whatever that is!!) of chips and enough peas to sink a battleship...... peas must be cheap! The overall quality wasn't the best either. Will not be going again.

For those living in North West England, Tweedmill Shopping Outlet in North Wales is similar (but smaller) to the North West England Boundary Mill Outlet at Colne. It has all the usual designer gear at slightly reduced prices which are usually still cheaper than you can buy from discount stores, but cheaper than you can buy from designer stores. So, if you are traveling from North West England into North Wales, it is well worth a visit on the way.The food in the restaurant is not bad, but the service is not so good. The image of the breakfast shows an extra black pudding. The image of the spoon shows a large clump of old food still attached to it. The spoon was delivered to our table with our drinks, so whoever served us didn't check it. When our breakfasts came, I pointed out the dirt on the teaspoon to the waitress who delivered our meal to the table, and gave it to her. She just took it away without a word. Not an apology. Not an, I'll get you another one. Nothing. Not a word.

Richard Underwood — Google review

Went yesterday and it was very busy as expected, staff in the restaurant were amazing and there was a 30 minute wait( who doesn't like freshly cooked food)but we were happy to wait and very well looked after , gave us chance to chat whilst we waited. Staff very friendly and helpful, taking my son there for food and to do some shopping as there are so many lovely Christmas giftsEnjoyed our shopping experience

Alison Garnett — Google review

Visited on the 9th of April, a Saturday, to have a wee browse. Whilst the cafe was nothing to write home about, I'm giving a 5 star based entirely on my suit shopping experience. The lady who assisted me with all my choices must have the patience of a saint, going above and beyond to make sure I was fully kitted out. Really helpful, friendly and knowledgeable, customer service you just don't see very often. Wish I could name them directly but don't think that's permitted. But anyway, in short, would recommend a visit, great selection of suits, covering all age ranges and styles. Thank you.

Will Stephens — Google review

A really nice place to shop.Unlike shopping in town the atmosphere here sends much more relaxed so I feel that I can take my time and enjoy the experience.Easy parking and pleasant staff.Definately make time to stop by at the restaurant for coffee and a cream cake.

Very good selection in all departments. Lots of choice, especially in clothing. Bought a couple of early Xmas presents for pet owners. Shame it's all about dogs with very little for cat lovers ( they are missing a trick there ). Cafe nice if a little on the expensive side. Very rarely visit without buying something. Plenty of parking.

I'm thrilled to have finally had the chance to visit The Naissance Experience at Glansevern Hall Gardens after waiting for two years. It truly is a hidden treasure with its tranquil atmosphere and fantastic weather, making it the perfect place for a calm and relaxing afternoon. I spent a good three hours exploring all the scenic walks, which I found very enjoyable.

Lovely walk around lake made better by lovely weather. Enjoyed the food fair in the courtyard. Great value for money if you have a couple of hours to spare.

So glad we finally been able to visit! Waited 2 years. It's such a hidden gem. We visited on Saturday and it was very quiet - perfect for a relaxed calm afternoon with a fabulous weather. We stayed a good 3hours really explored all the walks which were enjoyable.I know they have been closed for a while so hope they are able to get ontop of pruning and clearing some paths. The bird hide overgrown and the bridge over the lake very over grown and tricky walk but manageable. Mainly the Thorny bushes that can be dangerous.I could hear Peaco*cks had no clue where they we're though 😆Such a lovely place. And so close to home I can't wait to take my children as they get older.

A nice dog friendly garden to walk round... plenty just starting to florish (visited in spring)... a nice courtyard to sit and relax with a drink from the Potting Shed Cafe which served a fab ploughmans lunch!!Will be back to visit as keen to see how the gardens look through the seasons!

The Rhyl Beach is a great place for family time. It has a beautiful sandy beach, perfect for kids. The tide retreats and hundreds of fascinating rockpools form when the tide goes out, great for crabbing. The place is clean and peaceful, unfortunately the tide was low when we visited so we couldn't go into the water but other than that it's a recommendable spot to visit.

Beautiful beach and perfect for some quality family time. Luckily we found a parking spot right next to the beach and we didn't had to carry our backpacks for a long distance. The place is clean and peaceful. To bad the tide was low and we couldn't enter the water but other than that I recommend everyone to visit.

Loved it. Truly a calm beach. Lovely shops and food places nearby and we also found some halal chicken places too. A beautiful place 😍

Shabana D — Google review

The best part about Rhyl was the beach & chatting to dog walkers. It was nice & calm. The rest of Rhyl I felt was run down and not up to scratch. Closed toilets during opening hours, random screaming in town centre, many closed attractions despite other towns having theirs open... I felt an eerie vibe & the council not keeping this town going at all.

annalise storey — Google review

Came to the Rhyl air show. Was amazing, there was big crowds and the event was free and saw some amazing planes in action.Definitely recommend you go when its next on you won't be disappointed.Get there early and park up. There is plenty to do in rhyl while you wait for it all to begin so you can make a full day of it.

Outstanding sandy beach on a tranquil Welsh coastline and thought I would come back and visit today and had a really good experience I also visited Tuesday at high tide it nearly covers most of the beach and at low tide it goes out for miles leaving a couple of sandbanks be aware when the tide comes in you can be cut off easily so check the tide times before coming it was very quiet on the prom and lifeboat station right next to the beach brilliant beach for windsurfers very short walk from town centre and there is a few things to do in Rhyl like the cinema and aquarium amazing scenery at low tide an and had a brilliant experience paddling when I was here Tuesday at low tide as there was a fantastic sunset and loads of wind turbines offshore you can see in the distance there was toilets on the seafront but they were closed Sky tower is a great place for parking and only £3 all day much cheaper than places like Brighton and Yarmouth

Lovely sandy beach and clear water. The closer to the centre, the more people there are. If you go further away, it’s quieter. Your choice:) There’s one outdoor shower, which is near to the centre beach side. (you can look up from the map along the beach/sea front)

Beautiful beach not that big but does have a few arcades to keep the kids busy after a day on the beach ... It seems there is a lot of building and development going on near the beach front .. alot as changed in the last few years so could be thriving in the next five years .nice place .

Aquarium

Nature & Parks

The SeaQuarium in Rhyl is an aquarium situated by the sea that boasts over thirty exhibits featuring a variety of aquatic species. In addition to this, there is also an outdoor cove that houses seals. The staff at the aquarium are very friendly and knowledgeable about the different creatures on display, making it highly educational for those interested in marine life. Visitors can observe fascinating sea creatures such as fish, octopus, lobster and even see performances by Sea lions keeper with commentary.

Magical couple of hours spent here. Highly recommend the breakfast with the seals experience, was a bit damp outside due to it being late October so they gave us breakfast in the aquarium tunnel, just as charming, after breakfast we went through and had an exclusive viewing of the seals and was able to participate in feeding them too. After which we were left to view the aquarium at our leisure. Great time lots of good memories, thank you so much for having us!

Great place to come and visit. Staff are nice and the place is tidy and clean. There are lots of animals to see, tanks are clean and animals are easy to see.Sea lion show was awesome and the open tanks were brilliant. Good access for wheelchairs and plenty of cheap parking in the multistory nearby.Food and drink is also reasonably priced in the cafe.

Visited Rhyl Sea aquarium for the first time. My friends and I had a really good time. The staff are very friendly and there is so much to see. It's highly educational if you're interested in aquatic Sea life. From fish 🐟 octopus 🐙 and other interesting Sea life including lobster 🦞. There are also Sea lions outside in the pool and there's a performance by the Sea lions keeper with commentary. I can't say it's a cheap day out as even children have to pay almost as much as an adult. 2 adults and 2 children cost £42 which is alot as the place isn't huge. You wouldn't spend a whole day inside. But I suppose it isn't cheap operating an aquarium. Its well worth a visit if you're in Rhyl 👍

Martin Edwards — Google review

Really wanted to take the three children out without breaking the bank and something different to do. So I took them here, somewhere I’ve not been for a very long time. Price is more than enough for what is there. 25 minutes it took us, start to finish. And that is with the kids looking in every viewing point. (When they could see through the murky water and dirty windows) they still managed to have fun and see the fish.

Danielle Borrowman — Google review

Awesome little place. Spent about 90 mins there. Paid online so got a good price for admission, well worth it for the seal show (Nelly is no.1 good girl). Decent variety of sealife, seems like a great place for kids and plenty parking nearby.People commenting how it took them 30 minutes clearly aren't stopping to watch the fish, or read the info boards and just walk around, so they should have just gone to a pet shop.

Jordan Walmsley — Google review

Some beautiful aquatic life here. Quite a bit to see considering it’s size. It’s a bit grubby though and some tanks were so discoloured it was difficult to see the fish/sharks etc properly. Started watching the seal show for my daughter, but left early as it just didn’t seem ethical. But that’s just a personal observation/feeling.

Josie Luderman — Google review

Family of 4 is £58, not bad price. The cafe is clean, food was tasty and staff were friendly. Came on a wet day so didn't see the seal show, but walking through the tunnel with the fish over you was the best part. Lovely day out and definitely go back.

Amy Jones — Google review

Booked tickets online. You were able to come and go throughout the day. Kids enjoyed looking round and doing the touch and feel item that was available. They also enjoyed seeing the seal show. We had photos done and the one we ended up buying was a little dark (and a bit expensive at £8.50) although the seal bubbles was on top form with the poses. The only downside was waiting for over 20 minutes to view and buy the photo as the service was very poor and slow.

Laura Jones — Google review

It’s a lovely day out here, my 1 year old loves it especially the jellyfish tank. And the food in the cafe is tasty! The seal show is an added bonus too. Can’t comment on the staff as we never seem to have much interaction with them besides the shows. But I have to give 4/5 as I do think it’s quite expensive especially when there’s a full family of people, when you can get around the whole place in 1-2 hours, it’s costly for not a full day out. I do wish they did family tickets.Definitely worth buying tickets online before you visit as they are 10% cheaper 😊
